Year 10
Welcome Back to Term 3
It’s been an exciting return for Yr 10 as they started this week jumping right back into a regular school day, the Term 3 Mathematics Assessment and a Coaching Conversation with their Tutor. Students have time Friday morning to reflect on their Semester 1 Report, identify a focus area for Semester 2 and use iGrow data to note trends in their academics, effort and participation.
Last term rounded out with the End of Term 2 Assembly with two impressive and polished masters of ceremonies, Alissandra Braden and Connor Ikin. Alissa and Connor stepped up as fantastic leaders, prepared a smooth dialogue and led by example for their peers who may present in future assemblies. Well done to both students.
We will shortly say “see you soon” to our Winter School students who head down to High Country Campus and begin their on snow experience next week. Head of Secondary School, Deans and Year Advisors will be visiting students throughout the term and in communication with the Head of Outdoor Education, Mr Edward Atkins, and the Winter School staff to support students in this incredible experience.
Have a wonderful term Yr 10 Winter Schoolers:

UN Youth NSW Negotiations Competition
Next week, the UN Youth Negotiations Competition begins the first preliminary round. The competition aims to allow Year 10-12 students, in teams of two, to gain experience in diplomacy by taking on the role of negotiators for a country as they work to find practical solutions to important international disputes, alongside another country’s team. This year’s competition will be held over Zoom for the preliminary rounds, and at the University of Technology Sydney for the Semi-finals and Grand-finals. All students will compete in two preliminary rounds, selecting one out of the four preliminary round sessions available each week. We wish our Yr 10 teams luck as they prepare for this first round of competition:
Alisha Tang and Jocelyn Wang
Ahnu Guan and Annie Zhang
Jack Petering and Mischa Barac
Marcus Cooper-Hor and Chris Szeto
NSW State Da Vinci Decathlon 2022
Congratulations to the Yr 10 students who competed in Da Vinci Decathlon in Term 2. The results were impressive. Redlands ranked in the top 15 schools in the following categories: Cartography, English, Science, Ideation, Legacy and Overall.
Once again, well done to this group of Yr 10 students who represented Redlands this year: Johnny Wang, Heidi Colleran, Ahnu Guan, Conor Petersen, Jack Keogh, Annie Zhang, Krishan Price and Sholto Mirrlees-Black.
