Adjusted Yr 10 Assessment Timetable

As mentioned by Ms Van de Peer in this week’s letter home to parents regarding the adjustments to the Yr 10 Term 3 Assessments, we are very pleased with how adeptly Yr 10 has navigated the move to Remote Learning. Yr 10 have demonstrated a great amount of maturity and flexibility in being able to learn remotely, and from many reports, are using their independent learning time effectively.

Home Learning has been greatly reduced and now the adjustments have been implemented across most of the subjects undertaken by Yr 10.

The updated Assessment Schedule for Term 3 can be accessed here. As seen in the document, there are details about how each task has been modified, so you can see the active steps the School is taking to ensure the quality of tasks, their relevance in the Remote Learning setting and the expectations we have for how students should engage. The tasks have also been hyperlinked so you can easily locate the Assessment Notification on the Course Information Page in iLearn.

Zoom Expectations

Zoom expectations were reinforced with students this week.  It is the expectation that each student has their camera on each lesson, their full head and shoulders in the camera screen, be wearing appropriate PE uniform and have their name properly printed as their blank screen image.  Meeting these basic expectations each day will ensure students and teachers can focus on academic and pastoral care appropriately.

Please continue to send any reasons for missing classes or full days to SSAbsence@redlands.nsw.edu.au   In addition to the daily attendance automated notifications, Year Advisors are also following up with unexcused absences or patterns of absence for students.  The communication from parents regarding attendance is extremely helpful and appreciated.

Roseby gets to Tokyo first and takes the Olympic Gold!

As the Tokyo Olympics sadly came to an end, so too has the Redlands Olympic Challenge. A big congratulations to all the Yr 10 students in Roseby who contributed to a total of 9,079 km to take the gold medal, followed by Dumolo with a total of 8,737km and McDouall with a total of 6,242km! Together, we made it to Tokyo!

Attendance and Routine

Students are expected to attend all Zoom lessons. If a student is unable to attend any class, please promptly provide an explanation via email to ssabsence@redlands.nsw.edu.au. As Remote Learning continues, we’re learning the value and importance of structure and routine in maintaining engagement in learning. Mornings are key to setting a good routine for the day. If your child is finding it more challenging to get up in the morning, help them find something to look forward to in the morning, whether that is a cup of tea, a bike ride or a refreshing shower. Sticking to a routine will help them feel more productive and fulfilled throughout the day and make sleep easier in the evening.
