NSW/ACT/Qld Interschools Update
Please read this full Statement 2.4.20a with the update:
“Snow Australia places the safety, health and wellbeing of its competitors, volunteers, parents and school communities as our prime focus. We recognise the pressures that schools are currently experiencing and supporting Principals, School Snowsports Coordinators, staff and students is our highest priority.
Following advice to Schools over the past seven day period that cancels all Term 1 and 2 school sporting events from now through to July, all NSW Regional and QLD Interschools events planned for the July school holiday period (Saturday 4 July to Sunday 19 July) in NSW resorts, are now cancelled. This includes the Northern NSW and QLD event at Thredbo, and the Sydney event at Perisher.
We thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times. Our capacity and collective endeavour to eventually welcome guests safely to the mountains during the course of winter this year remains the positive objective.
- An undertaking to review qualification and entry processes into the 2020 NSW/ACT/QLD State Interschool Championships over the coming ten day period, with a view to publish that by mid-April.
Snow Australia Interschools and Thredbo continue to plan for the August 2020 NSW/ACT/QLD State Interschool Championships. A formal announcement of either the hosting or the cancellation of this August event will occur on or before the end of July.
- The qualification process to the NSW/ACT/QLD State Event, will be developed and published by mid-April.
Snow Australia Interschools and Perisher continue to plan for the September 2020 Snow Australia National Interschool Championships. A formal announcement of either the hosting or the cancellation of this September event will occur on or before mid-August.
- Qualification to the Australian Event, if any August State Event is not held, will be developed by the National Interschools Committee during July.”
Redlands Cup
This means that the Redlands Cup (11 July) also needs to be (very sadly) cancelled. Any payments to cancelled events will be fully refunded next term.
July Holiday Programs
Decisions around all July holiday programs at HCC will be advised as soon as possible. We need more information as the main considerations are the Government Policies and the opening of the resorts.
FOSS Events
Friends of Snowsports (FOSS) regrets that The Icebreaker event at the Balmoral Beach Club on Thursday 30 April was cancelled by the venue.
The Second Hand Ski and Snowboard Equipment Sale on the Senior Campus on Sunday 3 May has to be postponed until June or further notice.
Dryland Training
This is a good opportunity to check out the Dryland Training exercise program now available on the Secondary Sports iLearn page under Snowsports and get fit and stay healthy whilst remote learning.
Thanks for your understanding and support in these difficult times.
More Snowsports details and dates are on Redlands Pulse.
