Mother’s Day Classic – 44 Days To Go

Another reminder to register for the Redlands team on the MDC site. It’s time to get your group together and get training. Run or walk then have a brunch with family to celebrate finishing and contributing to cancer research. Over recent years, Team Redlands has slipped on the leaderboard of competing schools so our honour is at stake! This is a wonderful family-oriented event with categories for serious runners through to fun runners of all ages. Proceeds raised from this event are donated to Breast Cancer Research.

Don’t forget to purchase your Redlands pink caps and a new pink Team Redlands tshirt from the Uniform Shop, all profits going to the MDC. All Redlands winter sports teams are also encouraged to incorporate this event as part of their training and team building.

Register your interest in joining Team Redlands here. You will need to complete the registration process nearly all they way to the payment stage before you can select to join the Redlands team (password = Shine).

Battle of the Bands Friday 4 April

The set list for this exciting event in the Redlands Music calendar has been finalised with bands from both the Junior and Secondary Schools. Again this year, the students travelling to Cambodia will be selling tickets at school in the week before and on the night. Adult tickets $10 and student tickets $5. Students will also be organising the refreshments before the event and during the interval. Lots of Redlands talent will be on display. No need to organise dinner on this night, we have it covered.

Tickets will be on sale next week on both the Senior and Junior Campuses and also at the Box Office table on the night.

Easter Donations – Wesley Edward Eagar Lodge

In support of the Junior School Easter program, we are asking Yr 7 students to make an Easter Egg donation for the community that make use of the Edward Edgar Lodge. This was the first residential facility in Sydney to offer accommodation for both homeless men and women.

Wesley Mission’s motto is todo all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ever you can”. So, we can think of no better way to show the spirit of Easter from our Redlands community this year by sharing in the joy of giving to those struggling with homelessness.

Yr 7 students are encouraged to bring in a Easter Egg donation to the Easter Box in their Tutor sessions.

Students in all other years are also encouraged to bring in donation to the Secondary School Office.

Junior School Reading and Maths Mentoring

This week we have kicked off the mentor training for our Secondary student volunteers who will be committing their time after school every Wednesday throughout Terms 2 and 3. This is a considerable responsibility to support the progress of a Junior School buddy as they develop either their reading or maths skills. In order to be well prepared, our Secondary School volunteers will be completing a tailored training session to make sure that have the necessary skills and awareness to be great buddies. Without their involvement these programs would not be able to run.
