Indigenous Literacy Foundation – The Great Book Swap and Bake Sale

On Friday 1 November, Redlands Secondary School hosted a Great Book Swap and Bake Sale to raise money for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation. This initiative was a collaboration between Service Learning and Social Engagement, led by Service Captains Lachlan Green and Charlotte Humphreys, and Yr 12 students Kosta Mangos and Lauren Dower, who organised the event as their CAS Project.

The Swap and Sale were both a great success. The atmosphere was joyful and vibrant and together the Redlands community raised $2,400 which is a wonderful achievement. A special thank you to the Mangos family who donated many cupcakes, to everyone who donated baked goods and books, to the Yr 12 students who volunteered on the day and to the Roseby Library staff who coordinated the Staff Book Swap.

2024 Christmas Drive: Share the Dignity

This year, Redlands is supporting Share the Dignity’s “It’s in the Bag” campaign. The campaign involves filling bags with toiletries as well as a special gift and card for Christmas. These bags are delivered to women and children in need on Christmas morning.

Each Tutor Group has been given a bag to fill with instructions. As a team, and with the help of HSC students, the students will organise how they are going to purchase the necessary goods for the bag and will be challenged to bring in more bags to fill. The support of parents and guardians to purchase the goods is very much appreciated!
