On Friday 2 August, the Redlands Community supported Jeans for Genes Day. It was a fantastic day where the atmosphere was buzzing, as staff and students spent the day in their denim, all to raise money for the Childrens’ Research Medical Institute. The highlight of the day was the bake sale on the Senior Campus as it revealed the willingness of our Redlands students to serve, particularly Year 8. At the beginning of the term, Year 8 were given the challenge to lead the bake sale, to give their time and energy to a cause that is particularly meaningful to them and they definitely rose to the occasion. The bake sale was one of the biggest in living Redlands memory and combined with the money Senior students donated for wearing their jeans, raised $4463.90! So, a special thank you to Year 8 and all our bakers across the Secondary School who made that possible. Thank you as well to the Year 11 and 12s who helped on the day, with a particular shoutout to our Service Captains Antonia Morgan and Will Algar who have done an incredible job in their role all year.
Thank you also to the Prep and Junior Campuses for their involvement in raising money on the day and to everyone who donated online. In total, Redlands has donated $9 240.25 to the Childrens’ Research Medical Institute and is the top donating school – a wonderful testament to our community’s heart for giving.
