Yr 7 Service Learning

We will be hosting a visit from Assistance Dogs Australia in Week 5 for our students to gain some understanding of the extensive training program assistance dogs undertake and see the valuable contribution these dogs make, whether it is providing companionship, or supporting people with disabilities.

It costs over $35,000 to fully train an assistance dog so over the next few weeks our students will be participating in a range of fun activities to raise funds so that we can make a small contribution to this process.

Yr 10 Service Learning

Also in Week 5, students in Yr 10 will be coming back to further examine our Service Learning theme of homelessness. Students will have an opportunity to find out about the work of the St Vincent de Paul Society and in particular the Matthew Talbot Hostel in Woolloomooloo. Redlands teachers and students in Yr 11 are involved in assisting with the breakfast service at Matthew Talbot every week throughout the year. This term, students in Yr 10 will be invited to sign up to participate in the coming year.

CanTeen Bandanna Day

It was great to see all of the colourful CanTeen bandannas being worn about the school by students and teacher last Friday. Through this activity we were able to raise $1,455 and also increase awareness of the support services CanTeen offer to teenagers with cancer themselves or in their families.
