Secondary Sport

Secondary Sport

Throughout the first two weeks of Term 2 we will be continuing our online format for Sport. All students who are registered for a winter sport are expected to be engaging with the content provided through iLearn and from their relevant Sport staff member. These program have been carefully designed to ensure there is collaboration within teams in certain sports, as well as developing critical physical and technical skills for the sports. All students within the school are welcome to join any of the available sessions either as extra sessions to their specific sport or just for general fitness for those students that may not be completing a rep sport throughout winter.

Students will complete the session in their own time and send their results or a timelapse video of them completing the session to their relevant Sports Administrator by the end of the school day on Friday each week.

Weekly Sport Specific Challenge: Each representative sport will release a sport specific challenge for the students in their sport (ie. Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Tennis, AFL etc). Individual leaderboards will be published for each sport on iLearn. Students will complete the challenge in their own time and must send a video of their entry to the relevant Sports Administrator.

Podcast: New podcast available on this day.

Inter-Sport Challenge: Students will be competing in a sport vs sport challenge (Rugby vs Football vs Netball vs Hockey vs Tennis vs AFL vs Non-Rep). One challenge will be released in Note Day every Thursday. Entries will close on the following Tuesday and must be sent through to sports@redlands.nsw.edu.au Keep your eye on the leaderboard which will be published in Note Day each week to see which sport is on top each week.

Fitness Centre

We have a number of pieces equipment that are great for the athletic development of students (and adults) including skipping ropes, resistance bands and stretch bands. These are great for warm up and short, at home workouts. If you would like to borrow any equipment, please contact Mr Gooding (jgooding@redlands.nsw.edu.au) or alternatively we can arrange for them to be purchased.

Football

Gerry Gomez (Director of Coaching: Football) has been working hard during this down time. There are a number of great training skills and drills that students can access on iLearn. These are great drills that you can do in the comfort of your backyard or a small 2m x 2m area. There will also be a number of challenges and fitness activities going up in the coming weeks, we are encourage all the Redlands Football Program to continue with these challenges and to complete the fitness challenges in order to keep their skills and fitness levels up for possible season ahead. A reminder that all of the Live Zoom Sessions are now available on iLearn, if you have missed any (or would like to do them again) of Mr. Gomez’ sessions they are all in the one place.

Hockey

There are a number of skills and drills videos now on iLearn for all of the Hockey program to access, if you require any equipment for these activities (balls, cones, sticks), please let Ms Seebohm know and we can arrange a time to have them collected. Again, the live Zoom sessions that have been carried out on Tuesday afternoons are also available on the iLearn page if students wish to complete this workout again.
