Football

Round 9 was a great day for both our 1sts teams, with a 4-3 win over St Spyridon for the Boys and a 2-1 win over Oakhill for the Girls. Our 14A Boys are playing some impressive football as they prepare for the finals, with a 1-0 over St Spyridon. The 2nds Boys had a fantastic 3-0 win over SACS. The Inter A Girls played well in a 3-0 win over Central Coast. Best of luck to all teams this Saturday in Round 10, the final round of the regular season. We ask that all players arrive early or stay after their games this weekend to cheer on our 1sts Boys and Girls and 2nds Boys, as for some of these players it will be their last Home game for Redlands. We have a number of teams looking to secure their spot in the Semi Finals this weekend in what should be an exciting weekend of Redlands Football.

The End of Season Football Presentation will be held on Friday 6 September at Dee Why RSL.

Hockey

Last weekend saw our Girls 1sts have another tough loss. Despite some great attacking opportunities, and even a few short corners, we were unlucky to not score. We put up a competitive game against Barker and the girls should be proud of how they played.

The Girls 2nds played a solid game to come away with a 3-0 win against BMGS. The first half was not our best hockey but the girls were able to go into half time with some clear goals to improve on for the remainder of the game.

The Girls 3rds team had a fantastic 5-0 win against BMGS. They played with intent and purpose. A phenomenal amount of team work went into our five goals throughout the course of the game.

Hockey Presentation

Hockey students and families are invited to attend the 2019 Hockey Presentation lunch on Saturday 24 August from 12.30-2.00pm in the Top Quad, Senior Campus. Netball

We are coming into the last round of the ISA Competition this weekend, with a number of teams looking to cement their positions for the finals beginning next week. Our 1sts, 4ths and Inter As have locked themselves into the Final series for next week, but will be looking for strong games this weekend to build momentum. Our 3rds are needing a victory against Barker 7 on Saturday in order to take 4th spot in their division. The ISA teams have played some great netball over the season, with some teams playing their best games over the weekend. Despite the score line, our Inter B team and our Senior 5ths had shown some great improvements, continuing to play the game in great spirits with smiles on their faces until the final quarter ended.

ISA training reminder: those teams who have made it through to the ISA Finals will continue to train on Tuesday and Thursday. Those teams who do not make the finals will only train on Thursdays until Week 6 when the summer season begins.

Our NSNA teams are continuing to show real  improvements with a number of teams looking for wins in the last two rounds in order to make the Finals. This will make for some exciting games to finish the competition.

The Redlands Netball Presentation Dinner will be held on Thursday 12 September at Norths Leagues Club. The Trybooking link for tickets will be available shortly.

Rugby

For our last Home round we hosted divisional rival Redfield, a school that has for a long while held over us in wins and losses.

Our 13s started off the day looking to gain some redemption from their heavy Round 2 loss to Redfield. Our 13s did not disappoint, hitting the opposition hard in defence and driving them back numerous times. This positive attitude allowed them to hit the score first. The game ultimately went against Redlands but the improvement as a group was there to see.

Our 14s came out swinging. In a back and forth match where tries were coming from all corners of the park, it looked like it was anyone’s game. Redlands needed to break the rhythm of the opposition, make their hits in defence knowing how it would lead to their attack. Redlands had the win 39-36.

Our 16s looked to put a lacklustre season behind them and really show what they can achieve. The game started brilliantly as Redfield could not put up with how physical Redlands was in defence. The match ended in a brilliant win for Redlands, against a team topping the competition ladder.

Our 1st XV received a lesson in our match, if you have no possession you cannot score. Redfield controlled the ball completely in the second half and even with incredible defensive efforts, we couldn’t get ourselves back in the game. Look to see our 1st XV aim up, with our side coming up against Redfield in the ISA Semi Final, a chance to put two disappointing games behind us and show our true colours.

Tennis

Round 9 of the ISA Tennis competition saw all six Redlands teams play the formidable Oakhill College. With most teams needing a win to stay in the running for a finals berth, the challenge was set. Our 1sts led the charge playing smart tennis to win the crucial points. Sebastian stepped up to play in the number one spot this week and played an outstanding singles match to walk away with a 6-0 win against the ISA number 2 player. A great team effort led the Firsts to a close but well-deserved win. All six of our ISA Tennis teams played confident tennis demonstrating great teamwork and communication winning nearly all of the doubles. A fantastic round of Tennis, testament to the time and effort students and coaches put into training each week.

The NSTA Winter Tennis season completed its final round on Saturday. The finals draw is available on Redlands Pulse – Rhino. All teams will play one last time for the season in either a playoff match or the final. Congratulations to the Blue team – Henry Charles, Bennett Evans, Xander Halfen and Thomas Jackson; the Green team – Alex Arnold, Jess Coleman, Zac Creighton and Abhi Singh for making the Yr 7 and 8 final; the Turquoise team – Edward Bush, Jett Miller, Danver Zhao, and the Lilac team – Aiden Allen, Jules Dickinson, Toby Page and Charlie Payne, for making the Yr 9-12 Final. Best of luck to all teams. Thank you to the parent helpers for assisting with umpiring.
