Secondary Sport
Playing a pivotal role in the success of the Redlands Sports programs are our coaching staff. Their role in inspiring and shaping the lives of young athletes in sport through their guidance, mentorship and expertise, they instil values in which we hold within the Redlands community, this falls beyond the playing field/court, fostering personal growth and athletic development. When speaking to coaching I always ask them think back to a great coach they had and how they would have possessed a unique combination of qualities that set them apart:
- Effective Communication – this lies at the core of coaching, understanding the athletes’ needs and concerns. Creating an environment where open dialogue flourishes, fostering trust and camaraderie.
- Role Modelling – demonstrating unwavering dedication, discipline and sportsmanship, their passion for the sport and commitment to continuous improvement inspiring young athletes to strive for excellence.
- Adaptability – is crucial, great coaches have the ability to tailor their approach to suit individual learning styles and development stages, ensuring each athlete reaches their potential, they provide constructive feedback and encourage resilience in the face of setbacks.
- Empathy – this enables the coaches to understand the pressure and challenges young athletes face not just within sport but in general life. by offering support and guidance they contribute to the holistic growth of the students.
Our aim is to have all our coaches as mentors and motivators, developing the ability to inspire students beyond wins and losses, nurturing their character, confidence and potential.
‘A good coach will make his players see what they can be rather than what they are’

Bus Transport
When travelling on Redlands transport, the Redlands school rules are in place and students should be always upholding the values of the school:

- Follow the driver (and supervising staff) instructions at all times.
- Obey the transport rules and regulations at all times (seat belts must be worn at all times).
- Leave the bus how they found it (no rubbish, no mess).
Students who fail to meet the standards of the above will face school disciplinary action.

2023 NSW All Schools Athletics – Self Nominations
The NSW All Schools will be held at Sydney Olympic Park. It will be split into two competitions based upon age groups. There is no qualification process and any athlete from Redlands can enter, participate and compete in this event. This is a great experience for our Redlands athletes to verse other athletes from schools across NSW and get use to a formal competition setting.
The 16 – 19 Years NSW All Schools Track and Field Championships will be Saturday 23 September – Monday 25 September and the 12 – 15 Years NSW All Schools Track and Field Championships will be Friday 6 October to Sunday 8 October.
Ages 12 – 15 – Registrations and event information can be accessed here. Registrations close Friday 22 September, 12pm.
Redlands Athletics Head Coach Mr Nick Walker and Redlands Coach Mr Rich Frost will do their best to get out to the events to support athletes; however, students will need to get their own way to and from Sydney Olympic Park for their event.
If you are registering for the event please communicate that with Mr Walker (nwalker@redlands.nsw.edu.au) and myself.
