I know Jack and the team at the RSYS are looking forward to having you all down this Saturday. A few reminders to parents that they cannot use the carpark at RSYS.

The session will start at 8:00 am, so please arrive 15mins before the session starts. All sailors are to meet at the youth training room.

Sailors will be dismissed at 12pm.

The full event calendar will be up shortly we are just waiting to confirm some of the events with the organisers but will let you know as soon as the dates are confirmed.

Tennis

We hope students are enjoying the start of the Summer Tennis season! Please remember that attendance to training is still compulsory as pre-season trials are important for competition teams. There will be movements until next term so please make sure you are checking the training schedule each week to confirm your training group, location and time.

We are running an optional Friday morning training session for keen players or students that are needing to make up attendance for the season. Reminder students require 80% attendance to meet the requirements for Summer Representative Sport and receive their pockets. There are a number of students that have not attended any training so far this season.

There is a maximum of 16 students and the sign up is via a Google Form (please do not show up without signing the form as the sessions only run if we have confirmed numbers). Sign up will close on Thursday 12pm and an email will be sent out to players on the form to confirm the training. If you do not receive a confirmation email on Thursday night, training will not run on Friday.

Fitness Centre

This Friday Morning (9 September  there will be an All-Girls Session. This will continue for the remainder of the Term as we lead into Summer Sport Trials and Team Selections.

The Fitness is an incredible space, freely used by all Redlands Athletes across all Age-Groups. Currently, with fantastic numbers across all sessions, this All Girls Session will allow for a session tailored towards our female athletes and their chosen Summer Sports.

I encourage all students wishing to attend to bring along a friend or teammate for the session.

Session starts at 6:30am sharp and will conclude by no later than 7:40am.

Students are reminded to bring with them the following.

  • A water bottle
  • Towel
  • Redlands PE / Sports Uniform

Sports and students are asked to contact the Director of Athletic Development Mr Jack Gooding jgooding@redlands.nsw.edu.au for any specific questions regarding these sessions.

Rugby 7s

Our Girls Rugby 7s and Learn to Play Program has had a fantastic start with brilliant numbers across all three available sessions. Sessions available to students include a Strength / Conditioning and Skill Session, a Tackle / Contact Session and a Skill / Speed Session.

The Training Week starts with a Strength / Conditioning and Skill Session: Monday morning 6:45am – 7:30am. Across Wednesday morning 6:45am – 7:30am, we will have the Tackle / Contact Session.

All morning sessions will be held between the Undercroft Area and the Redlands Fitness Centre. These session will be focused on building up the strength, speed and mobility required to compete safely, as well as a strong foundational focus on the contact elements within Rugby and Rugby 7s.

Wednesday afternoon from 3:30pm – 4:30pm, there will be our Skills / Speed Session. This is a fun and interactive session, held at the Junior School Oval, that will focus on our Catch/Pass and game elements with Rugby and Rugby 7s.

Students are encouraged to bring football / moulded boots to this afternoon sessions but runners are fine.

All sessions will be staffed by Redlands Rugby Coaching staff including our Director of Rugby Jack Gooding, our Lead Coach / Touch Football Coordinator Jordy Parsonage and also Wallaroo Piper Duck.

For any questions regarding these sessions, please contact the Director of Rugby Mr Jack Gooding directly on  jgooding@redlands.nsw.edu.au.

Rugby and Rugby 7s is a trial Sport and, as such, will not have any effect on Summer Rep. Sports. For all students wishing to join these sessions, they must understand that priority must be given to other school commitments.

Winter Sport

Football

The End of Season Football presentation was a great way end to the season for our Football community. A huge thank you to the Friends of Football for all of their work behind the scenes to make the night possible. We had a great turnout from students and parents, and it was a fantastic night for all involved. Thank you to our guest speaker, Stephanie Brantz, for providing our students with some inspirational insights. We hope you have enjoyed the Football Season and hope to see you back next year!

Hockey

The Redlands Hockey Annual General Meeting will be held next Tuesday 13 September at 6pm at the Mosman Rowers. General Sport Information

Wet Weather

If training is cancelled due to wet weather, a notification will be posted on the Redlands Sport Twitter page (@RedlandsSport) in addition, an email will be sent out to both students and parents. This includes morning & afternoon training along with weekend fixtures.

Thursday afternoon sport – wet weather arrangements (Year 8-12)
In order to limit student mixing indoors, Students in Year 8-12 who are dismissed at the end of Period 5 are required to go directly home. Sport coaches and Redlands staff will supervise their COVID-safe departure.

Thursday afternoon sport – wet weather arrangements (Year 7)
In the event that year 7 sport is cancelled on Thursday afternoon, students will remain at school until 3.20pm and participate in sport based activities.

Fixtures

A friendly reminder that the weekly Fixtures (The Redlands Rhino) can be found on the Secondary School Sport page on Redlands Pulse from Wednesday each week. Please ensure you check this on Friday each week to ensure you have the most up to date fixture information.

Uniform

The Redlands sports uniform should be worn to all trainings and matches (students are not permitted to wear any non-Redlands branded clothing). In the event of inclement weather students should wear their Redlands fleece or sports tracksuit.

Game time and arrival times

Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled fixture on Saturday (unless directed otherwise). Please ensure you know where you are playing and the likelihood of traffic on Saturday mornings to allow adequate time.

Attendance at Sport

Can we please draw your attention to the following communication process regarding absence from sport:

  1. Parents are required to send an email to the appropriate Sports administrator prior to missing any training session asking for them to be excused
  2. Any student unable to attend a Saturday fixture due to illness, is required to submit a Medical Certificate to their Sports administrator by the Monday morning following the missed fixture
  3. Injured students are required to attend all training sessions and Saturday fixtures
  4. Failure to do any of the above will jeopardise a student’s eligibility for Colours, Pockets, and Awards & result in school disciplinary action

Please note that the first unexplained absence will result in a lunchtime detention with further unexplained absences escalating to a Friday afternoon Detention. Please refer to the Student Planner 2022 for full details on requirements for participating in a Representative Sport.
