Redlands Return to Sport – Week 6 Guidelines
We are incredibly grateful for the positive response from the Redlands Community this week as we commenced our face-to-face sports program for the first time in over four months. Seeing the courts, fields and rowing sheds in full swing has been a wonderful sight after the extensive downtime.
I’d like to offer a huge thank you to all students and parents for their ongoing support of the current arrangements as we manage our COVID-safe return to Sport. As we move into Week 6 of term, we will continue with the current cohort-based training program and introduce Saturday Sport trials and training across our Representative Sport programs. Sport Specific details for Saturday Sport will be published in the Redlands Rhino early next week.
Participation and Exemption
- If there is a reason why your child is unable to participate in their scheduled Sports training during Week 6, please directly email Alison Cox, Head of Secondary School Sport acox@redlands.nsw.edu.au by 3.00pm on 8 Monday November.
Summer Season
- All Sport training will be based on your child’s Summer Sport choice. Updated communication will be shared each week in the Secondary School Sport section of Note Day.
Cohorting
- A cohort-based training program will ensure cohorts are kept separate during Sport.
- Students traveling to off-site venues will be required to travel with their own cohort. This applies to those students traveling by bus or walking to venues.
- Once students arrive at their venues, they will be required to remain in their cohort group for the duration of the training session.
Mask-wearing
- Mask-wearing is required when traveling between sports venues and on school grounds (this includes students walking or traveling by bus to or from school).
- Secondary School students must wear masks in indoor sports venues at all times when not exercising, including in change room and bathroom facilities.
Off-Site Training and Vaccinations
- In line with the community sport guidelines, students aged 16 and older who attend most of our off-site facilities must be fully vaccinated and will be required to show proof of vaccination status to facility staff on arrival. More specific information has been communicated to these students.
Change-Rooms and Uniform
- School change-room access will be limited and students are encouraged to wear their PE uniform to school on days they have Sport training.
Representative Sport
- All students who have signed up to a Representative Sport for the summer season will be given the opportunity to train at least once a week while we are operating a cohort-based training program. Any changes to these arrangements will be communicated to families through the Sports Administrators and Note Day each week.
- Students whose Representative Sport training session is not scheduled on Thursday afternoon will be dismissed from school at 2.30pm.
- The ISA Board have determined that the ISA Summer Sport Competition will commence in Term 1, 2022. With this in mind, Term 4 will be used for training and grading in preparation for the Term 1 competition.
- Rowing and Sailing will commence their Saturday Sport program this Saturday (6 November) and all remaining Representative Sport will commence on Saturday 13 November and this will continue until Saturday 27 November. Once again, specific detail will be communicated by the relevant Sport Administrator.
- If your child is unable to attend any of their scheduled sessions, please contact the appropriate Sports Administrator (contact details listed below).
- Sport Specific information is also available to families on the Secondary School Sports Page on Redlands Pulse.

Rowing
After an extended period of time with online training running for past 10 weeks, we are delighted to make a return to in person coaching and on water training for all students!
The weekly online training sessions offered a combination of land training options including regular rowing machine sessions for students fortunate enough to have access to an ergo. Our coaches would take advantage of the breakout room functions offered on Zoom to provide individual coaching to students each session during their workloads.
Our older students had a far greater number of trainings sessions on offer compared to our younger year levels however a number of our students have had some exceptional attendance across these sessions, top attendance records are as follows:
YR 11
Emma Canton – 46
Aaron Drake – 38
Elizabeth Holtheuer – 36
YR 10
Charlotte Scamps – 45
Sam Chubb – 38
Alana Mansfield – 37
YR 9
Tom Jackson – 34
Daisy Thomas 31
Annabelle Harman 30
YR 8
Keira Attard 34
Nicholas Tebbutt 33
YR 7
Frankie Richardson 17
Maria Smith 15
Oscar Pearce 14
Our on-water training schedule has already been emailed to all Rowing families but this information is also available on the Rowing page of Redlands Pulse. Also returning is the post morning water session breakfast supplement where students can grab a combination of an Up&GO, yoghurt or a muesli bar as they depart the boatsheds, this ensures that students get a little extra protein and energy to better sustain them throughout the day.
Non-Representative Sport
Non-Representative Sport rotations will continue during Week 6. Please see the schedule below for Thursday 11 November. Further details will be provided to families ahead of the session next week.
