Sailing

The 2021-2022 Redlands Sailing season began last week with students meeting their new Head of Sailing, Jack Littlechild. Over the coming weeks, training will focus on building the sailors theoretical knowledge and fitness. Students will also have an opportunity to compete on a virtual sailing platform. “Virtual Regatta Inshore” is a digital sailing platform that allows students to compete against each other while learning about the fundamentals of sailing. Congratulations to Alissandra Braden and Izaac Nisbet who had stand out performances in last week’s racing. For more information please visit Redlands Pulse – Sailing.

Touch Football

A huge congratulations to Redlands coach Jordan Parsonage (pictured below with the 2020/21 1st VII Touch Football team) who on Friday night at the NSW Touch Football Awards night (held via zoom) was awarded the 2020/21 NSW Touch Youth Leader of the Year. This is a fantastic achievement for Jordy who in her time at Redlands has left a lasting impact across both the Girls Touch Football and Boys Rugby program, we are extremely lucky to have such a positive role model for the young students in our coaching ranks and look forward to active involvement in the future!

A reminder the Week 2 Touch Football program is available on Redlands Pulse – Touch Football as well as on the iLearn page (Secondary School Sport – Touch Football

Zoom Fitness

Zoom Fitness sessions are great way to start your day and are on every Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons. Students are encouraged to attend as many sessions as they wish, and we encourage all members of the same household to join in the sessions.

ONLINE FITNESS TIMETABLE

A reminder for the Zoom sessions, that students need to be:

  • Online and ready to go prior to the Zoom starting (please be online ready to go at 6:55am/3.25pm)
  • If students are more than 10 minutes late they will not be admitted into the Zoom Session
  • Zooms set to mute with cameras on (students who remain with their cameras off will not have the session counted towards their commitment)
  • Have a water bottle
  • Have a gym towel
  • Please wear appropriate fitness attire (in line with mufti day attire ie: no singlets, appropriate length shorts)

Mullets for Mental Health

For the month of September, a number of Secondary School students, along with Mr Jack Gooding our Director of Coaching: Rugby and Athletic Development, are shaving in mullets in support of the Black Dog Institute and Mullets for Mental Health.

FOLLOW MR GOODINGS PROGRESS

Mr Gooding is documenting the whole process, including the cutting of his hair and the progress towards a true flowing mullet across the whole month. Along with a blog detailing the process, there will also be a number of ‘invitational barbers’ who will give their thoughts around mental well-being as well as offering their assistance in manicuring the mullet.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support a charity and have some fun during this lockdown period.

To date, our Redlands teams, coming from all Secondary School Year Groups, along with Mr Gooding, have already passed the $10,000 mark for donations. This is an amazing effort from all involved and we can only imagine the fantastic mullets that are currently gracing our online classrooms and zoom sessions.
