Redlands Silver Linings Cookbook
Thanks to all the contributors to the RPFA’s Silver Linings Cookbook so far. If you haven’t yet submitted your recipe, please do consider sending in a family favourite to rpfavicepresident@redlands.nsw.edu.au before the end of this month. Thanks and happy cooking!
Book Club
The RPFA Book Club had its last meeting via Zoom to discuss Bad Blood by John Carreyrou. It was a unanimous “thumbs up” for this fascinating thriller style, non-fiction book, many of us reading it in just a few days. So if you haven’t had a chance to read it yet, it’s highly recommended.
Term 3 will see us try a new schedule, introducing an evening meeting for the first time. If successful, we will continue the format of having one morning and one evening meeting per term. For enquiries and venues, please contact Lerida Grant on lerida@bigpond.net.au.
We would really love to meet some new members, so if you’ve been thinking of challenging your reading habits, please come along. We also have a WhatsApp group to discuss books and literary events.
Book 1 – Daytime meeting on Wednesday 29 July at 10.00am for 10.30am discussion at a home in Mosman.
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas – Fictional but based on reality, about a 16 year old girl who is with a childhood friend when he is shot and killed by a policeman. Relevant, insightful, educational, timely and a good read.
Book 2 – Evening meeting on Thursday 10 September at 7.30pm for 8.00pm discussion
The White Girl by Tony Birch – Recently shortlisted for the Miles Franklin award, “a story of good, evil and the legacy of Australia’s colonial past”.
