Redlands Parents and Friends

Redlands Parents and Friends

The birthday party has shifted into high gear after smashing the Giving Day fundraising goal with $520,000 donated for the High Country Campus, and further support for the Coralie Amos OAM Scholarship Appeal. The RPFA proudly contributed to this awesome effort as one of the matching contributors. Thank you to all who donated, every dollar counted!

Let’s keep the party alive with only seven weeks to go before the Festival of Redlands launches! Inspired by the best ever Olympics results and the love you have all shown for our school on the Giving Day, the Festival will tap into that competitive spirit with everyone participating in the amazing activities on offer generating House points!! The winning House will take out the inaugural Festival Trophy!

Each house will have its own marquee to decorate and all members of the community are encouraged to join in the fun by dressing in House colours on the day.

How will it work? Students, parents, alumni and teachers’ attendance and participation in sport games, competitions and other activities will earn points that will be attributed to their House. For parents, that House will be determined by your child’s House group.

****More breaking news, to inspire Junior School House spirit we will be bringing back the super successful student hand print cutouts with birthday messages that will make up the House banners on the day of the Festival.

Birthday Wishes

Natalie Davies RL 1987, President of the Redlanders Alumni Association and current parent.

“Wishing Redlands a very happy 140th birthday! The school has come a long way in its rich and interesting history but the values it instils in the students and the sense of community spirit has stood the test of time. I look forward to continuing to watch the school grow in the years ahead and to celebrating at the Festival of Redlands event this October.”

Walks start at 8.40am and are roughly 1 1/2- 2 hours. For those with the time, we love to stop for a coffee afterwards. In case you’re running late, just text Ann Marie so they can wait for you. Walks for his term:

Book Club

The Redlands Book Club is a group of Redlands parents – past and present – who share a love of reading. New members are always welcome! The Book Club meets twice each school term to discuss a book, rotating among members’ homes. Occasionally, outings are also organised to events, movies or shows that are tied in with books. If you would like to join Book Club, or simply want to know more, please contact Monica or Sabiha.

We had a great meeting at The Oaks last week where we discussed The Women by Kristin Hannah (see photo below) and welcomed two new members.

Our next meeting is Wednesday 11th September at 10:30am, when we will be discussing The Other Side of Beautiful by Kim Lock.

For those who like to plan ahead, our October book will be Safe Haven by Shankari Chandran. Date TBC, but likely to be the week of 21st or 28th October.

We are on the hunt for a meeting spot for our next meeting. Please contact Monica or Sabiha if you’re able to host.

Kids Giving Back

Kids Giving Back is hosting a mega cooking marathon on 22 September. As the children prepare meals for Sydneysiders in need, they can have fun with friends and bring to life their school values of moral courage and compassion. If you are interested in keeping the kindness cooking – please contact Daniella.

The Week in Pictures
