Redlands Parents and Friends
Wow, here we are Term 2! We hope you all had a refreshing break and the transition back to school has been a smooth one. On Monday 13 May, we are looking forward to celebrating all Junior Campus Redlands Mothers and Carers. Join us for coffee, conversation, and some classroom time with your child.
RSVP here.
Term 2 came to an end with another greatly successful Second Hand Uniform Sale. Not only did many families pick up some fabulous bargains, hundreds of pieces of perfectly good clothes were kept out of landfill. To top it all off, $4000 was raised to support the means-tested Coralie Amos OAM Scholarship. The Coralie Amos OAM Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student commencing in Year 7 2026 for their entire Secondary School education at Redlands.
A massive thank you to Rebecca James and JP Forrest for volunteering their time and efforts in making this happen!

Planning is under way for this first-of-its-kind event for our community to celebrate 140 years of Redlands. Set in the grounds of the Junior School, this event will include games, sports, arts, drama, music, and refreshments and will also showcase our High Country Campus.
To bring this amazing occasion to life, we are calling on as many in our community as possible to volunteer. Thank you to those who have reached out so far and we welcome more. Contact us if you would like to find out more and the RPFA will be in touch soon.

Walks on Tracks
Weekly guided walks around the northern Sydney area are organised by Ann Marie, a wonderful RPFA volunteer. This is a great way to meet other Redlands parents and get in shape, plus a wonderful way to spend a morning discovering the many paths of the Sydney area.
The invitation for walks is open, so if you have friends or family who you think would like to come along, please feel free to bring them. Dogs are also welcome on most walks, look for the ???? below .
Walks are roughly 1 1/2- 2 hours and for those with the time we love to stop for a coffee afterwards. We have planned all the walks for the term so mark your calendars. Next two shared here:
- Wed 8 May: Seaforth followed by lunch at Kerrie’s 29 Ellery Parade Seaforth. Please bring a plate. ????
- Wed 15 May: Balmoral to Chinamans Beach. Meet outside Balmoral Boatshed ????
Any questions, please contact Ann Marie on 0406 691 533.
Book Club
The Redlands Book Club is a group of Redlands parents – past and present – who share a love of reading. New members are always welcome! The Book Club meets twice each school term to discuss a book, rotating among members’ homes. Occasionally, outings are also organised to events, movies or shows that are tied in with books, including annual attendance at the Sydney Writer’s festival in May. If you would like to join Book Club, or simply want to know more, please contact Monica or Sabiha.
May meeting Tuesday 7th May 10am-12pm. We will be discussing a debut crime-thriller by local author, Lynne Johnson, The Bait Trap.
The Week in Pictures
???? Gold Star photo goes to the ‘Walking Gals’ who are out there rain or shine! We love seeing their smiling faces out and about in Sydney every week.
Behind the Scenes with the RPFA: Meet your Class Parents
A wonderful group of volunteers, Class Parents are in place from Redlands House all the way up to Yr 12. Their efforts in welcoming new parents, organising teacher celebrations and facilitating class social events go a long way in maintaining the connected and engaged school community we enjoy here at Redlands.
Check back here each week to meet 2024 Class Parents and be inspired for how you can get involved!

If you could choose a Class Parent theme song what would be the title name?
I play ‘Walking on Sunshine’ by Katrina and the Waves in the car on the way to school every morning. Whether the boys want to or not, they end up smiling. It’s an upbeat and fun way to start our school day. So if I could summarise the way I feel about my role as Class Parent for Redlands House, it’s about (hopefully) bringing a sense of infectious positivity and camaraderie.
Why did you decide to become a Class Parent, and what do you love most about it?
I love that it allows you to both foster a great sense of community as well as give back to the wonderful teachers and Redlands staff who work so hard to support our children. To show appreciation. I have met so many wonderful people since we joined in 2023 and it is through collaboration and friendship that we can drive enhanced school experiences.
What advice would you give to a parent or carer looking to get more involved in the School?
It’s a rewarding experience and one that really allows you to understand the essence of the School, So I would encourage anyone with an interest to seek out opportunities! Aside from being a class parent, there are also lots of other ways you can be involved in the School – the RPFA is always looking for helpers with a wide variety of different skillsets. In whichever capacity, you’re constantly meeting wonderful like-minded people and working together with a collective goal – the betterment of school life for our children – and that’s a pretty cool thing to be part of.
If you could trade places with your children for a day, what would you most want to experience?
I think mainly to just revisit the curiosity and vivid imagination of the young. To see the world as they do, My boys are still very young, but as their schooling years progress, I would also love to see how our educational programs are embracing and harnessing developments in technology to equip our children for the rapidly-changing world.
Do you have pictures of parent / family get-togethers you want to share?
Please send them to RPFA Note Day.
