Redlands Parents and Friends

Another term has come and gone! It’s time to farewell our lovely Yr 12 families and students who officially graduated last night at a lovely Valedictory celebration of achievement, filled with gratitude. Congrats to all our wonderful new Redlanders! (Don’t relax just yet – there are still final exams to go before we collect uniforms and textbooks for our Second Hand Sales.)

Speaking of which, we will be having another Second Hand Uniform Sale early in Term 4 for those of you who’d like to purchase the current uniform to wear during the two year transition period to the new uniform. Our sales are not only at a great value, but also support the Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund. If you have clean, good quality current summer uniforms or sports uniforms to donate, please drop them off at the Uniform Shop. Please note we are not collecting any items for recycling (eg. old sports uniforms) at this time. Please also do not bring in: used socks; dirty, stained or torn items; items purchased from external parties (Marks & Spencer’s, Next) as we cannot sell these items.

We will be trialling a new recycling program over the holidays… and will let you know early next term when to bring in any other Redlands branded uniform items for recycling. If you are also running out of storage space, be sure to recycle any non-branded Redlands uniforms items through other avenues (eg Vinnies).

In the meantime, I hope you all have an enjoyable holiday. See you in Term 4!

Walks on Tracks

Weekly guided walks around the northern Sydney area are organised by an RPFA volunteer. This is a great way to meet other Redlands parents and get in shape, plus a wonderful way to spend a morning discovering the many paths of the Sydney area.

The invitation for walks is open, so if you have friends or family who you think would like to come along, please feel free to bring them. Dogs are also welcome on most walks.

Our walk next week on Wed 27 Sept is from Balmoral to Chinamans Beach – let’s start the holidays with a walk up those 200 Barney Kearns steps! Meet at Balmoral outside The Boatshed at 8.40am.

Any questions, please contact Ann Marie on 0406 691 533.

Book Club

The Redlands Book Club is a group of Redlands parents – past and present – who share a love of reading. New members are always welcome! The Book Club meets twice each school term to discuss a book, rotating among members’ homes. Occasionally, outings are also organised to events, movies or shows that are tied in with books, including annual attendance at the Sydney Writer’s festival in May. If you would like to join Book Club, or simply want to know more, please contact Monica or Sabiha.

Our next meeting will be in the second half of October, where we will be discussing Chai Time at Cinnamon Gardens by Shankari Chandran.

We are also planning for the first meeting of next year to be a discussion of the entire Seven Sisters series by Lucinda Riley. There are eight books and they are great holiday reading!
