Redlands Parents and Friends
What a week! Thanks to all who attended Gala Ball and/or participated in the auction – a record-breaking amount was raised to support the Dr Sue Morey AM means-tested Scholarship, with a slight delay to proceedings as attendees held their breaths during the nail-biting penalty kickoff that saw the Matildas head into the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the Matildas could not secure a berth in the finals last night, nor a public holiday for the rest of us… but there are plenty of chances to catch up with Redlands parents and friends in the next few weeks before the next school holidays (see below). If there are any other get-togethers you know of that we are missing, please do let us know!
We are also planning a secondhand uniform sale of summer uniforms before end of term. Watch this space.

Walks on Tracks
Weekly guided walks around the northern Sydney area are organised by an RPFA volunteer. This is a great way to meet other Redlands parents and get in shape, plus a wonderful way to spend a morning discovering the many paths of the Sydney area.
The invitation for walks is open, so if you have friends or family who you think would like to come along, please feel free to bring them. Dogs are also welcome on most walks.
Our walk next week on Wed 23 Aug is from Harbord Diggers to Dee Why Headland. Meet at Harbord Diggers, Lumsdaine Dr, Freshwater at 8.40am.
Any questions, please contact Ann Marie on 0406 691 533.
Book Club
The Redlands Book Club is a group of Redlands parents – past and present – who share a love of reading. New members are always welcome! The Book Club meets twice each school term to discuss a book, rotating among members’ homes. Occasionally, outings are also organised to events, movies or shows that are tied in with books, including annual attendance at the Sydney Writer’s festival in May. If you would like to join Book Club, or simply want to know more, please contact Monica or Sabiha.
Our next book for this term is Babel by R.F. Kuang. The date for the meeting is to be confirmed. New book suggestions for next term are welcome!
Parents Tennis
We held the Senior School Parents Tennis Day on Wed 16 August. It was a day that started out with a little trepidation in terms of the weather but fortunately the weather Gods shone down on us and we managed a beautiful day on court with the sun managing to shine through. The day was attended by around 22 Parents from across the school. We had a fierce Round Robin Competition with 10 competitors in the running for the title. Shirley Barnes (Year 3) outplayed everyone by winning the most games. Shirley took home the winners trophy, a new Babolat Tennis racquet and a set of balls.
The clinic attendees had a great time either playing tennis for the first time or gaining some new skills. Fran McGourty (Year 9) won the Clinic Lucky Door prize of a private tennis lesson.
The last three weeks have been such fun that we are planning on running these sessions on an annual basis. Stay tuned for details in the new year.
