Redlands Parents and Friends
Second Hand Uniforms
We will continue to sell second hand uniforms on Tues 16 May from 8.30-10am at the RPFA storage unit at 1 Monford Place, around the corner from the Uniform Shop. We are also looking into the possibility of another Saturday morning sale – watch this space for more info. As usual, our Second Hand Uniform Sales provide great value for families and also give each of us an opportunity to contribute to the clear benefits of recycling. If you have clean, current uniforms to donate to this cause, please drop them off to the Uniform Shop! In addition, funds raised are contributed towards the means-tested Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund. We will only be accepting payments by EFTPOS. Please also remember to bring your own bags for your purchases.
Charity Events
We are participating in two events in the fight against breast cancer.
Mother’s Day Classic Fun Run
On Sun 14 May, complete a 5km or 10km walk or fun run around the Sydney Botanic Gardens with the family to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research at the 2023 Mother’s Day Classic. Mums, dads and kids are all welcome to join in the festivities. There are limited pink Redlands T-shirts from past MDC races available in the Uniform Shop. Or just wear your Redlands baseball caps! Join our team in the race (make sure to join Team Redlands!) or donate to this great cause. For more information, please contact Jennifer or Sophia.
Redlands Pink Sock Charity Round
On Fri 26 May and Sat 27 May, we will be hosting the Redlands Charity Round. Teams will be wearing pink socks for their fixtures (you can purchase the socks at the uniform shop or on Flexischools) and there will be food and treats available for sale (please contact your respective FoGs to volunteer to make and/or sell baked goods), with proceeds donated to charity. Please come support our teams and fundraising efforts.

Sat 27 May: Senior Rugby at Macquarie Uni Playing Fields, Senior Netball at NBISC, Senior Hockey at Bowman Field; Junior Football at Redlands Junior School oval

Please include the student’s name and year in Mrs Benneyworth’s class.

Walks on Tracks
Weekly guided walks around the northern Sydney area are organised by an RPFA volunteer. This is a great way to meet other Redlands parents and get in shape, plus a wonderful way to spend a morning discovering the many paths of the Sydney area.
The invitation for walks is open, so if you have friends or family who you think would like to come along, please feel free to bring them. Dogs are also welcome on most walks.
Next week’s walk on Wed 17 May will be from Mosman to The Rocks, returning via ferry, so no dogs please. Meet at Mosman Bay ferry on Avenue Rd at 8.40am.
Any questions, please contact Ann Marie Kimber or call 0406 691 533.
Book Club
Come along and enjoy the lively conversation of other Redlands parents from all around the world with a common love of reading. The Book Club meets twice each School term, rotating among members’ homes. There is also an annual visit to Sunday Writer’s festival (May) and sometimes to movies that are tied in with a book discussion.
Our next meeting is Wed 17 May from 7pm at Tania’s house. We will be discussing Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus. Please email Tania or call her on 0450473484 to let her know if you are coming so that she can plan appropriately for numbers. Reminder, we will only have light nibbles and drinks, no dinner. Please let Tania know if you would like to bring something.
If you want to pick up our next book, it is The Familiars by Stacey Halls. We will meet to discuss this book on Mon 19 Jun at morning tea. If you would like to host the meeting, or if you might be interested but have concerns about what’s involved, please contact Monica or Sabiha to have a chat.
Also, if you would be happy to host a meeting in the future but are just not available to do so in May/June, please let us know as well! We still have 4 more meetings in the second half of the year to organise!
Books planned for Term 3 are: The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley and BABEL by R.F. Kuang.
Photo Gallery
Walks on Tracks completed an impressive 10k walk around Longueville and Northwood, followed by a delicious potluck lunch at Keiko’s.
