School Readiness

As we begin to think about the transition of our Senior students to Kindergarten next year, we start to assess each child’s skills and development, their school readiness. There is much more to being ‘ready for Kindergarten’ than being physically healthy and fostering cognitive development. Social and emotional development and learning dispositions play a critical role when demonstrating being ready for school. School readiness is evident through how a child listens and asks questions, expresses their thought process and communicates with others. By thinking before performing actions, possessing a curious eagerness to learn and showing a beginning interest in books as well as sharing and working alongside others are all skills a child demonstrates that they are ‘ready’. If you have any concerns or questions regarding school readiness or would like to discuss your child’s readiness, please speak to your class teacher for guidance.

Transition Gold 2021 Information Session

An information session will be held via Zoom at this stage on Wednesday 27 May at 3.00pm for all parents interested in the Transition class for 2021. The Redlands Transition program is a five day a week program ideally for children who turn five years old between 1 January and 31 July. If your child’s birthday falls within these dates, and you feel they may not yet ready for school in 2021, but can cope with a five day a week “more school like” structure, you may want to attend our information sessions to assist you in making an informed decision.
