Environmental Action at Redlands – Mufti Day Friday 28 June

Throughout Term 2, the Student Representative Council (Yrs 3-6) has been focusing on environmentally friendly strategies to help Redlands become eco-friendlier. In an effort to help our Australian community, students have come up with the idea of raising funds for farmers experiencing the detrimental effects of drought. To help raise awareness for Australian farmers, the Student Representative Council will be hosting a mufti day on the last day of Term 2, Friday 28 June. Students from Preschool to Yr 6 are invited to dress in earthy colours and to bring a gold coin donation for farmers in need. All funds will be donated to Rural Aid Australia, an organisation which strives to provide support to farmers and rural communities in times of need.

Living Safely with Dogs

This week Orange Class Seniors and Transition Class had a visit from Anne and her English Sheepdog, Kiki. This government program assists in teaching children how to safely interact with dogs at home and in the community. Preschool children are in the highest risk category when it comes to hospitalisation as a result of a dog attack and as such, educating students in identifying unsafe situations and understanding basic dog behaviour is essential. Anne used a combination of stories, role play and songs to educate and engage the children. Anne and Kiki will be back next term to visit Blue and Yellow Class Seniors.

Allergies

This year at Redlands House we have children enrolled who are at risk to anaphylaxis in response to the following foods.

  • Egg
  • Peanuts and Tree nuts
  • Uncooked dairy

We please ask that all members of our community, support these children by not including any of the above ingredients in students’ lunch boxes.
