Visit to Kimbriki Eco House and Garden
Our Seniors and Transition Gold children recently visited the Eco House and Garden at the Kimbriki Recycling Centre in Terry Hills. The students had the opportunity to learn about our impact on the environment, exploring how we can Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. They investigated the worm farm, learnt how composting toilets work and watched how to build a straw bale building. A brief trip around the site allowed students to see how they recycle garden waste, wood, metal and building materials. Students and staff were encouraged to repeat the mantra ‘I’m an ecologist, I take care of everywhere I go!’ Another reminder that we can all make a difference in caring for our environment.
Storypark
The School encourages all families to become involved in the online portfolio, communication opportunities on Storypark. Sharing background information and family events and celebrations or discoveries can be made through posting on your child’s site. The teachers and/or group can then share at school with your child. The magic of a trip to a farm or a visit from a special person are two examples of many highlights shared last term through this forum. This year, staff would like to encourage parents to add information on topics and events that the teachers post to enhance the collaboration process between school and home.
Colder Weather
Now that the weather has changed and the days are becoming colder, please ensure your child has adequate clothing for outdoor play. Staff encourage the children to play in the outdoor environment in all weather conditions, so it is important that they have appropriate clothing. We have raincoats and gumboots for the children to wear at Redlands on wet days, but they need to have a nice, warm layer underneath.
OOSH
Information pertaining to the upcoming July Vacation Care program for Redlands House students can be found on Redlands Pulse/OOSH for families to view. Flexischools will be open for bookings on Monday 27 May at 5.00pm. The cut-off date will be Wednesday 26 June at 5.00pm and after this time no further changes or bookings can be made.
As a reminder, OOSH at Redlands is open from 11.00am to 6.00pm daily. If you would like to make a general enquiry, booking or alter a permanent booking please email OOSHbookings@redlands.nsw.edu.au. If you need to contact the OOSH team to relay a message affecting the day your child is in attendance, please call 0413 764 443 between 2.30-6.00pm only. Email messages are unable to be read between the hours of 2.30-6.00pm because staff are looking after the children in their care.
Uniform Shop
