Redlands House/Transition Gold

International Day

What a wonderful celebration of diversity, nationality and culture last Wednesday when Redlands House participated in International Day. It was lovely to see so many children and educators celebrating their family origins. Days such as these assist children to acknowledge, embrace, and respect difference. It further allows us to understand our personal, cultural, and ethnic identity while simultaneously encouraging and providing settings for students to come to terms with their own culture and ethnicity.

Safety Message

Many of the Redlands House families wait for older siblings in the Prep School after collecting children from Transition Gold or Preschool. For their safety, we do not allow children to play in the Prep School playground and on the climbing equipment. Recently, several children who were out of sight and hearing distance from their responsible adult, have had accidents in the playground. Please take notice of the signs in the playground and ensure your child does not play in the out of bounds areas. Thank you for your understanding and action of this very important safety message.

Winter Uniform

A reminder to families as we enter Term 2 for all students to be wearing their winter uniform. For Transition Gold, students have a choice of wearing their uniform or PE uniform. This means a white long sleeve shirt, tunic/pants and tights/socks for the girls. The boys wear their grey shorts or long pants with a long sleeve shirt. The PE uniform remains the same with optional tracksuit pants, fleecy vest or fleecy jumper.

For Redlands House children, this means a long sleeve yellow shirt with tracksuit pants, fleecy vest or fleecy jumper. For girls opting to wear tights under their skort, please make sure they are navy blue.

Please also remember that the children will still require a hat each day.

Are you Travelling in the Coming School Holidays?

During your travels, we would be grateful if you could collect hotel or airline toiletries as we will be having collection points in the Junior and Secondary School offices for donations in the first few weeks of Term 2. These items will be donated to Every Little Bit Helps who provide toiletries to men and womens’ shelters, people experiencing domestic violence as well as refugee centres.

Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize Collection and Artist in Residence Program

The Redlands Konica Minolta Art Prize Collection will be on display at the School at a special event on Thursday 16 May.

Tickets available here. Drinks and canapés will be served during the evening. This is a parent only event.

Thank You From Mrs Huon

A big thank you to all of our wonderful families at Redlands House for a fabulous first term for 2019! The staff highly value and greatly appreciate your ongoing support and contributions to our Preschool program. I encourage you to continue to provide us with your feedback regarding day-to-day Preschool life, events or activities. It is this feedback that contributes to our Quality Improvement Plan and helps us to navigate through change when necessary. My email contact is chuon@redlands.nsw.edu.au or please feel free to pop in for a chat at any time.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a lovely break, take time for yourselves, rest and re-energise for another dynamic term. For those travelling abroad, take care and stay safe and I look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 30 April for Term 2.
