Redlands House and Transition Gold

Mrs Gilroy Returns

We are very excited to advise that Mrs Beth Gilroy will be returning to Redlands in Term 4. Beth has been on maternity leave and is eager to return to the Redlands House team. Beth will join the Transition Gold teaching team on Thursdays and Fridays in Term 4. Beth has a wealth of knowledge and will assist the team in preparing the children for the important transition into Kindergarten. Many of the Transition Gold children already know Mrs Gilroy, and I’m sure they will be very excited to see her face again on campus and online again.

Provocations for Learning

We often have families comment on our beautiful learning environment and the enticing way our educators set up experiences, we call these provocations.  In early childhood teaching the term provocation is derived from the Reggio Emilia Approach. They are fantastic opportunities for learning that we incorporate into our suite of learning activities. For children a ‘Reggio Inspired’ provocation is an open-ended activity that doesn’t have a prescribed outcome, instead it is designed to stimulate ideas, initiative and imagination for and amongst children, whether they choose to explore their ideas alone or in groups. Deliberate and thoughtful decisions made by the teacher to extend the ideas of the children. Teachers provide materials, media, and general direction as needed, but the children take the ideas where they want. This allows children to develop skills of creativity, inventiveness and flexibility in thinking, planning and reflecting.”
