Staff Changes
At the beginning of the year, we bade farewell to Madame Haverhals as she moved to a new role in the Prep School. Miss Troncoso will now take up the position of Language and Environment teacher in the Preschool, teaching Spanish and Environmental Studies to our Junior, Senior and PreK Students. Miss Troncoso has worked in the Preschool for several years, more recently she has worked as a teacher assistant in the Yellow Class, making the transition to this new role for her should be an easy one. The lovely and very experienced, Mrs Bruce, will work with Miss Hamilton in Yellow Class while a permanent replacement is found.
Water Bottles
Please remember that your child needs a water bottle each at Preschool. Please ensure the water bottle can be opened by your child. Please no water bottles that have the spray function. Although the children do like to spray themselves when they are hot, they also like to spray the other children, and this is a health concern.
Nyumbar Indigenous Incursion
Nyumbar offers a range of culturally appropriate and safe educational programs for schools, students and staff to learn about and engage in Aboriginal culture. They promote, teach, share, educate and have fun building a shared future through these programs. Redlands House students were fortunate to have Des and Isaac visit us this week. They told a story of the laughing kookaburra who had to learn to be kind to his friends even if they were different from him. We learnt about Aboriginal symbols and how to draw them as well as symbols for our body painting. Every child was able to add their mark to a group canvas that depicted the many symbols we explored. This artwork will be a wonderful addition to our Redlands House corridor walls and remind us of the rich cultural heritage that we can share when we learn about and hear Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stories of the past, present and future.
