Yr 12 Students – Cambodia Fundraiser

Next week, two Yr 12 students Josh Benneyworth and Sean Farrell, will be presenting at the Prep School Assembly. They will be sharing with the students a fundraising event that they will be holding in the Prep School next Wednesday 30 October, after Clubs between 4.00pm-4.30pm. The aim of the fundraiser is to raise money for their upcoming School Service trip to Cambodia which is an annual Service trip open to all Yr 12 students. They will be working on a Community Based Project in a remote village located near Siem Reap. Last year’s group helped to build and renovate a patient room at the community hospital, which they also shared in an Assembly with the students.

M’Lop Tapang was founded by Redlander John McGinley back in 2003 as an initiative to offer safety to vulnerable children. They now work with over 5,000 children and families to provide services, meals, shelter, medical care and education. All money raised next week will go to M’Lop Tapang to enable them to continue their valuable work with these children. Josh and Sean will be selling Fruit Kebabs for $2.50 and Apple Slinkies for $1.50, outside the Canteen. Any support you can provide these students would be greatly appreciated and all money goes to this great cause.

Nutrition Seminar for Redlands House Parents

On Friday 1 November, we are delighted to have Kate Flynn from Orbit for You give a seminar on the importance of nutrition for children. Kate is passionate about educating people about their bodies and she regularly writes and lectures for major institutions on Health and Well Being. We all know the important role nutrition plays in a child’s physical and mental development. Kate will assist us to understand how to provide the best start for our children and develop healthy eating habits. The seminar will take place in the Lucy Hill Library in the Preparatory School at 9.00am. We hope you can join us for this wonderful opportunity.

Bush Dance

The Bush Dance is a real highlight on the Junior Campus calendar and one you wouldn’t want to miss. Volunteers are still needed for set up of the event (1.00pm-3.00pm) and pack down (8.00pm-9.30pm or earlier with more hands to help) and the Slushie Bar (4.30pm – 8.00pm). If you are interested, could you please complete the details found on this link. I look forward to sharing this wonderful event with the Preparatory community.
