On-Campus Learning
With the phased return of students back on campus over the last two weeks, the Music Department is looking forward to welcoming back Music students as we resume a range of programs to be delivered face-to-face from this Monday 25 May.
- Academic Music Classes (P-12)
- Private Music Tuition Individual (K-12)
- Group Tuition Classes: Musicianship and Rock Bands (3-12)*
- Instrumental Music Ensembles (7-12)
It is important to note that all Choral and Group singing experiences are currently under review and these sessions will continue to be delivered and resourced through our online platforms, where students will engage independently with provided resources and instruction materials.
Hygiene in the Music Setting
This has been a well-considered aspect of our planning and students involved in group instruction will follow the guidelines through the use of spreading out classes and rehearsals, utilising larger areas and outdoor learning spaces to promote distancing, where possible. Regular cleaning and disinfecting of musical equipment and resources will be undertaken daily.
Academic Music
The Department remains committed to supporting the Yr 12 Higher School Certificate and International Baccalaureate courses as students prepare for all major practical works and assessments. We will continue to provide access to tuition rooms when available for independent practising and composing. Session times can be booked directly through Music Administration by emailing seniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au
Extra Subjects Music (Individual Tuition and Groups)
Private Music and Group Tuition will resume regular face-to-face instruction from this Monday 25 May with Music tutors delivery instruction resuming on campus. All lessons will follow the original 4 week rotational schedules issued throughout Term 1, for the delivery of Private Music instruction. Please be advised that all recently issued temporary Remote Learning Schedules (Weeks 3 and 4) will no longer be followed.

Secondary Instrumental Music Ensembles ONLY

Junior School Music Ensembles (Under Review)
At this present time, all Junior School Music Ensembles will continue to be delivered through Google Classroom (Yrs 3-6) in providing students with learning resources to work independently at home. Please note, Preparatory Choir and Preparatory Strings will not be running at this stage.
Music Festivals 2020
The Music Department is sad to inform our community that the Redlands Junior and Senior Music Festivals, and the annual HICES Music Festival have been cancelled for 2020. We understand that this decision will have an impact on our Redlands Music community, particularly our musicians, who enjoy sharing their musical talents with family and friends. However, the government directive to restrict public gatherings has mandated these cancellations. As a department, we remain committed to both enriching the life of students and the wider Music community by working towards some possible presentation opportunities in Term 3, in providing students with performance goals as they continue to work on their repertoire, build technical skills and continue exploring their love of music making.
