Redlands Composition Competition

Earlier this year, the Music Department announced the second instalment of the Redlands Music Composition Competition, in recognising the creative talents of students who compose their own music. This creative opportunity was designed for any aspiring young composer in Yrs 7-12 who is currently enrolled in the either the Academic Music Program, Co-Curricular Music Ensembles Program or Extra Subjects Program. Last year the department appointed talented young Australian composer and Redlander Greta Argyropoulos (2017 Graduate) as the ambassador in launching this creative initiative and in mentoring the students. This year, we are pleased to announce that our mentor for this project will be recent graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium (Composition) Mr Solomon Frank (Redlander and 2013 Graduate).

The Music Department looks forward to announcing all selected composers next week.

Instrumental Competition Auditions (Week 10)

Please note: Entries are only accepted when accompaniment scores are submitted to Music Reception at the time of the application submission.

The audition process will require students to demonstrate advanced technical skills, personal expression and understanding of style. For the audition, students will only need to present one work. A second contrasting piece will need to be considered at the time of the audition and discussed with the audition panel. This piece will not be required to be presented at the time of the audition but will need to be prepared and presented in advance of the Competition if the candidate is selected as a finalist.
