Ensembles

It’s great to hear the excitement through the corridors as the first Band, Strings and Choir rehearsals have begun. Our ensembles are energised and ready to go for a fun and rewarding year ahead!

One of the most rewarding pay-offs for any young musician is when they can join their music-making with the music-making of their peers. Time spent practising scales and parts in disciplined solitude at home, suddenly finds rich reward when their part is layered with another part and another part – creating something bigger and far more exciting than we can ever achieve on our own. Important life lessons are imbued in the ensemble context, and it’s no wonder that wellbeing benefits are proven and extensive, as we learn to take musical risks in a shared way – supporting, stretching and succeeding alongside our peers.

We are so fortunate at Redlands to have such support for the Arts, with rich and diverse opportunities for our students to develop themselves creatively. This week saw beaming smiles on faces, and a fresh, chatty buzz in corridors and classrooms as our ensembles from P-12 launched for 2024.

We’re planning and discussing all our big shows and festivals for 2024 in rehearsal, and can’t wait to share our Music with our community.

Competition Series – Save the Dates!

Instrumental Competition Auditions – Closing Tomorrow!

The instrumental competition is the first of our Competitions for this year. Auditions close tomorrow – this is a final reminder for those who are yet to join. Throw your hat in the ring, and audition on iLearn!

An important reminder for all entrants to ensure they have not only uploaded their audition video, and attached sheet music, but filled out the form on the iLearn page.

Jazz in the Garden

We’re gearing up for Jazz in the Garden – just over two weeks away! What’s a better way to kick off the year with a “launch-of-season” musical event where you can lie back and enjoy some Jazz? That’s right, Jazz in the Garden is coming on 2 March – book now!

The Friends of Music are holding a sausage sizzle for the event, as well as a Yr 12 Bake Sale. When booking below, you can even pre-purchase your sausage sizzle for $3! It promises to be a wonderful afternoon of music and entertainment.

More information for ensembles involved will be going to parents later this week.
