In the Music Department, we love sharing our music with our broader community and believe so greatly in the power of music to bring people together. Students in our Jazz program (featuring both Junior and Senior Campuses) are looking forward to playing for our community this Saturday as part of our Autumn Fair. If planning your day, be sure to pop the Fahl Garden on your itinerary between 1.00 – 2.30pm to hear from our Junior Jazz Band, Intermediate Stage Band, Advanced Stage Band and Jazz Vocal Ensemble.

Prep Music Orientation Session
This morning’s Orientation Session was a great opportunity for our Prep parents to connect and learn about Music offerings within the Prep School and to hear more about the enriching P-12 journey that lies ahead for them in Music at Redlands. For those unable to join us, you may find these slides from the session helpful in considering opportunities for your child’s musical development. We also welcome expressions of interest in joining the Friends of Music group through this form.

Battle of the Bands
Tickets Now available!
Taking place in Edwards Auditorium on Monday 3 April 2023, the epic annual Battle of the Bands will be held in 3 separate divisions, adjudicated by respected industry producer and multi-instrumentalist Beau Golden. Each performer (announced last week) is allocated two (free) tickets that can be claimed via Trybooking for their respective division. Please note that performers do not need tickets and are already presumed to be in attendance for the full evening.

Red Factor 2023
Mrs Roberts and class teachers would like to congratulate ALL entrants on preparing for auditions last week. The audition panel was particularly impressed by the level of preparation and creativity shown across all year groups. Finalists will be announced tomorrow by email and we look forward to the performances in Week 10.
Save the Date: Year 2 Strings Open Lesson
Yr 2 students are excited to share their Term 1 Strings learning in an Open Lesson in Week 10. Parents and carers are invited to witness the wonderful skills and concepts students have been working on, and the connections they are making to their non-instrumental curriculum music lessons. Please save the date for Monday 3 April 2:20pm, with more details to follow.

Senior Music Festival 2023 Feature Auditions
We are excited to announce auditions for the first round of selected featured roles within ensemble performances at this years’ Senior Music Festival to be held at the Concourse on 16 June 2023.
The following auditions are open NOW:
- Redlands Festival Orchestra (select Woodwind, Brass & Percussion solo roles)
- Featured Drummer (with Advanced Strings)
- Featured Guitarist (with Advanced Choir)

Senior Instrumental Competition Auditions
A reminder that the Senior Instrumental Competition auditions are now open via iLearn – closing on NEXT FRIDAY 24 March at 5pm. A fantastic chance for instrumentalists to gain performance experience in front of an experienced adjudicator, this evening is a highlight of the Redlands Competition series.

You’ll be amazed how much it streamlines our communication, and students can keep track on all their Redlands Activities in one location!
