Music

Jazz in the Garden, Shrek the Musical, Piano Competitions, Battle of the Bands…  It seems wherever we look around our great school, Music is flourishing.

Jazz in the Garden – a smash hit!

The inauguration of the Fahl Garden stage as a Music venue was a spectacular success, with the clouds parting just for us. The beaming sun was all but outshone by the extraordinary talent of our Jazz musicians who pulled together this top quality show in the four weeks since rehearsals commenced. After two years of disruption, this event was more than a success – it was a statement of the brilliant things ahead.

Keep your eye out for this event next year. It’s set to become a community favourite!

Shrek the Musical

We wish our Redlands singers and instrumentalists all the best for this week’s performance of Shrek at The Concourse Chatswood. Congratulations to the Drama team for their production efforts, and to a host of Music Tutors and teachers who have jumped on board to support students in bringing this show to its opening night! Toi toi all!

Battle of the Bands – Monday 4 April!

The next big calendar event for Junior and Secondary Schools is the annual showcase event for our Rock Bands.

Finalists and families have all been emailed directly.  In managing the current climate, guests will rotate through the Edwards Auditorium across the night – depending on which of the three sessions their child/friend is participating in.  Junior Rock bands are our opening acts (non-competitive), and there is an allocation of 4 tickets per Junior student available by clicking the link.

After the Junior Rockers perform, Divisions 1, 2 & 3 are open for parents and friends to attend, but due to the number of Senior performers, there will be a limit of 2 tickets per performer to ensure we avoid over-crowding.  All guests are required to wear a mask when indoors.

Acclaimed Australian musician Travis New is looking forward to being with us to judge the night!

Prime your 90’s throwback outfits… It’s going to be incredible.

OPENING ACT & DIVISION ONE – 6PM |
DIVISION TWO – NOT BEFORE 7.15PM |
DIVISION THREE – NOT BEFORE 8PM |

A Picture of Practice!

It was my joy to hear the Yr 4 Gold Orchestra this afternoon (the extension stream of the Year 4 curriculum Music Instrumental Program) and the music they made was glorious!  I commended them all for how hard they must have worked to sound as accomplished as they did. No one accidentally sounds good… this ensemble’s pride in their work was obvious, and they are being so capably under the baton of Ms Susan-Gai Anderson and oversight of Ms Katherine Moses as our well-loved Head of Junior Campus Music.

Gold Orchestra

The future is so bright for Redlands Music.
