Senior Music Festival
Bach to the Beatles
Last Friday night, Redlands celebrated the artistic and creative achievements of Music students from Yrs 7-12 as they performed in the annual Senior Music Festival at The Concourse, Chatswood. Featuring ensembles from the Senior Campus, the audience was entertained with a diverse range of performances and repertoire from ensembles in the Choral, Concert Band, Strings and Small Ensemble programs.
With over 200 students and staff involved in this event, the Festival captured many exciting musical moments, from Chamber Music through to Jazz Improvisation. All musicians involved delivered an outstanding concert program that explored a wide range of repertoire and demonstrated a high level of technical and performance skills across all years, culminating in the Yr 12 Graduating Musicians Finale with a medley of Beatles hits!
The energy backstage was incredible, bundled with examples of peer-support and encouragement, positivity, excitement and pure enjoyment. This is one of the wonderful elements of Redlands Music, highlighting camaraderie and collaboration across Yrs 7-12 as they performed alongside one another.
As a department, we are very proud of the students’ collective achievements across all areas of ensemble work, solos and featured performances, as they explored a wide range of musical styles and performance contexts. The Music Department would like to acknowledge the contributions of all members of the Music team for their hard work, patience, flexibility in thinking and care of students as part of the Senior Music Festival. In consideration of the large number of students involved, and the overall logistics in staging solo performances right through to full-scale massed ensembles, the event ran incredibly smoothly and was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. Some photos can be found on Redlands Pulse.
We would like to acknowledge the winners of the Senior Music Festival ticket selling competition:
- Prize 1 – The He Family
- Prize 2 – The Houchell Family
- Prize 3 – The Bessell Family
- Prize 4 – The Pretellis Family
