Community Announcement
Jazz In The Garden (Live Streamed) on Saturday 13 March at 6.00pm
Redlands Music is thrilled to announce the launch of the 2021 Music Performance season, which will see the department opening the doors to the Edwards Auditorium, in welcoming parents and friends to participate as audience members in our first live concert on campus in over a year.
Please join us for a wonderful evening of live music presented by students enrolled in our Jazz program and featuring pre-recorded student compositions, as we release the 2019 and 2020 Redlands EP. Limited tickets will be made available to family members of students performing across this evening, with tickets capped at two per family. We will also continue to welcome virtual audiences to participate in this event as we continue to live stream the concert for those who are unable to join us on-site.
As per previous communications, rehearsals for this event will take place between 2.00-6.00pm throughout the afternoon and prior to the event. Ticket booking and live streaming details will be communicated with the Music community in a letter to be issued tomorrow.
Strings at Redlands
The Strings program at Redlands is designed as an enrichment experience for students. It aims to help young people develop collaborative and leadership skills, build self-confidence, curiosity and a love of learning while developing a deep connection to their Music community. Under the leadership of Head of Strings, Ms Katherine Moses, this program across K-12, is a vibrant and dynamic learning experience for all our Redlands musicians. With the majority of students commencing their adventure as part of the Yr 2 Strings program, as an extension to their curriculum learning, all students are allocated a violin or cello as their instrumental focus for the year, in developing instrumental skills and building aural discernment.
Participation in a Music group or ensemble is one of the most rewarding aspects of being a musician. Apart from being a chance to interact with peers and make new friends in the process, creating music affords a chance for all individuals to use their individual talents to produce music that is challenging, invigorating and entertaining. Most importantly, music making with friends is incredibly fun.
Junior and Senior Piano Competitions (Yrs 3-12)
Audition Series 2 (Weeks 6 & 7)
The audition process will require students to demonstrate advanced technical skills, personal expression and understanding of style. It is expected that students present works demonstrating a high standard of musical competency. Please note only one piece is required for the audition with the second contrasting piece listed on the application form. These competitions will be held in the Edwards Auditorium on Friday 30 April. Audition forms can be collected from Music Receptions or downloaded from Redlands Pulse.

The Prep and Junior School Friends of Music team are hosting an informal Q&A session for Preparatory School parents on Friday 12 March at 8.30am in the Prep Music Room should you like to come along. We would love to have to join us for this information session. Contact Jennifer Mast (Prep Parent Coordinator) for more information.
