Library

Book Week is on 17-23 August – the theme is Reading is my Secret Power.

In the Roseby Library, we have displays of short listed books in the Picture Book category, Information Book category and of course, the Older Readers category. The books are a wonderful range with something to delight every reader. The stand-outs in the Picture Book category are Cicada by Shaun Tan and Mediterranean by Armin Greder. In the Information Book Category, Make Believe about M.C. Escher is a stunning exploration of his mathematical art. The six Older Readers books are all quite different. Suspense, verse novel, road trip, teen angst and the totally unable to be categorised Lenny’s Book of Everything. Every single one a great read.  Come up, browse the displays, and borrow.

As part of our Book Week celebrations, the popular author Jack Heath will be visiting the Secondary School on 9 August. He will be speaking to Yrs 7  and 8 in the Roseby Library. Jack is the bestselling author of more than 29 action-packed books. His latest series Liars (Book 1 Truth App) has as its hero, Jarli. Jack wrote his first novel in high school and became a published author while he was still a teenager. His work has been translated into several languages and shortlisted for many awards. He is an entertaining and inspirational speaker. He will share his passion for books, writing them, reading them and, of course, talking about them. Now for a piece of trivia – he has changed his ringtone to a cough so he does not have to turn his phone off when he goes to the movies.
