Junior School Sport Information

Term 4 Summer Sport

Saturday was the first day back open for business for our Representative Sport programs in their games against local schools in our ‘bubble’. As previously advised, our objective is for our students to enjoy all that sport offers, and while winning is a bonus, it should not be the driving factor. Wanting to win is more important than winning itself.

Special mention to our Senior C Tennis team who played the A team from St Aloysius. Unfortunately, with the limited schools and teams, it may mean more of these matches for all sports are between different levels of ability. The convenor of IPSHA has sent all schools a reminder that there are procedures that staff can put in place on game day to ensure a positive experience for all students.

In exciting news, our players of Touch Football (pictured at top), our new sport, had their first match last week. Heidi De Saxe got a mention at our school assembly for her 50m intercept try to score the first try of the season.

I was fortunate to referee the C and D Senior Basketball games and was pleased to see the sportsmanship on display when Redlands had a substantial lead over Mosman Prep, putting in place some of the above mentioned match day procedures.

Thank you to all those families who followed the COVID-19 Sport protocols at the various venues across Sydney. These will continue to be updated via the link in the Summer Sport Team lists. Congratulations to the following students who have received notable mention from their respective coaches in Round 7.

2021 Summer Sport Selection

Parents of students who are currently in Yrs 2-5 would have received an email this week asking them to select their 2021 Summer Sport. Some sports have limited places (eg Surfing, Stand-up Paddleboarding) which will be filled on a first come first served basis. Please complete your selection as soon as possible.

Absences From Saturday Sport

For those students who are representing Redlands on Saturdays and will miss their game due to illness or misadventure, parents/carers are required to complete this online absence form. This will allow your responses to be passed on electronically to your child’s coach efficiently and at short notice. The Student Absence link can also be found on the Junior School Sport page on Redlands Pulse.

Term 4 Team Lists

Students/parents/caregivers are asked to refer to these team lists towards the end of the week so you are aware of any changes the coaches have made after training and/or games.
