Cross Country

Our annual Junior School Cross Country Carnival took place at Cammeray Golf Club during the week. In the last of our big three carnivals, there was much excitement leading up to the first event especially on a new course with more hills and turns. It was pristine conditions with the sun shining and beautiful lush grass, with special thanks to Layton and his staff at Cammeray Golf Club for providing such well-manicured facilities.

Due to COVID regulations this year, we held events in separate grades which allowed for students to get in, run, get out, minimising sitting around in the sun and disrupting class times. The seeding based on results achieved in the Beep Test in PE lessons into Championship Race and Fun Run allowed everyone to receive a time and run the same course. We will likely repeat this model for future years. There were some incredible results and tight finishes and, most of all, lots of smiles and fun. We had over 200 students qualify for the Championship Course with the remaining students competing in the Fun Run event.

In lieu of parents and spectators not being able to attend, click here to view a video of the event.

Age Champions

The below results are from the Championship Races and were presented their ribbons and trophies on Monday’s assembly. Congratulations to Finn Gurney (U10) closely followed by Daniel Gordon (U11) on running the fastest time on the day. While grades ran together on the day, the use of electronic timing allowed me to split the results back into age groups for the purpose of presentation.
