Term 4 Summer Sport Choices
Term 4 Summer Sport choices have now closed and anyone who hasn’t made a selection should email juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au to select their sport as soon as possible.
Athletics
The Redlands Athletics team will take on the best athletes in HICES next Wednesday in an effort to regain the HICES Championship title. After the past two years as runner up, our athletes are raring to go. I look forward to bringing good news of some tremendous performances next week.
AFL
The Girls AFL teams faced a sterner test last week with a number of girls schools having entered the competition. The skills of our girls and the opposition are improving rapidly and the quality of football has really lifted in such a short space of time. Most importantly, the girls are loving playing and the opportunity to try something new.
The Yr 3/4 team will be involved in the AFL Spring Challenge, a series of Friday night matches with eight games over four weeks starting on 6 September. Yrs 3 and 4 boys interested in playing in Friday games should come and let Mr Carter in the Sports Office know.
Football
Yr 6 footballers will have an opportunity to represent Redlands Junior School one last time, with a boys and girls team entered into the St Spyridon Invitational Cup in the last week of term. Students who wish to be considered for selection for this one-off tournament should let Head Coach Gerry and his band of coaches know at Wednesday afternoon training.
Netball
Redlands 13 and 18 have both qualified to contest Semi Finals. Best of luck to the girls and congratulations on a great season thus far. Here’s hoping we have some more Netball to report on in weeks to come.
Snowsports
The winter continues this week for a band of dedicated alpine athletes from Junior and Prep School, who are this week contesting the NSW Interschools Championships in Perisher. Rain and poor visibility have made fast times difficult across most disciplines through the early part of the week.
Winter Before School Training
The Term 3 sporting calendar, showing all training, matches and events is available on Redlands Pulse.
For all trainings on the Junior School Oval, please use your own discretion in extreme rain and weather situations. Often parents and students will have left home to attend before we can make a realistic judgement on the weather. If there is no danger of lightning, nor heavy rain which would soak anyone training outdoors, our aim is to go ahead and run the session. Coaches and/or staff will be in attendance. It’s not always possible to find an alternative training venue, but students will be supervised until school begins in this circumstance.
