AFL

The boys kicked over 100 points against Knox last week in a resounding win following an intense week of kicking accuracy practice. Kosta Mangos kicked two goals and the boys are having a blast. Every single team member has now hit the scoreboard over the season with a major.

I’m still waiting on the IPSHA draw and information regarding the girls’ AFL Term 3 program, but have a list of players together. As soon as I receive any information it will be passed onto the girls / parents who have expressed interest.

Netball

Redlands 17 have been working hard on their skills and led all the way in a very exciting match, only to go down by a goal in the last minutes.

Giants Netball stars Taylah Davies and Kim Green have been in this Wednesday working with our Yr 5 and 6 teams in Net Fit sessions, helping the girls build fitness and stamina coupled with skills for the rest of the season.

Our Yr 3 and 4 girls will be put through their paces in the same Net Fit session early next term during Wednesday’s Sport training.

In other great news, renowned skills coach Leonie Stewart has committed to helping our fundamental skills development into Term 3 and will be running fundamental skills sessions right up until the NSNA finals.

Rugby Sevens

Sevens Rugby provides our students with a great opportunity to develop their match skills in a competitive environment well matched with their opposition and without some of the more confrontational aspects of Rugby. With less players on a smaller field, Sevens Rugby asks players to develop passing and teamwork, introduces the breakdown without a mass of bodies and puts a real emphasis on tackling technique. Our Yr 5 and 6 team have taken some giant strides forward this season and are playing tremendous rugby. Rugby looks to be in good hands moving forward with this committed bunch having a great time and playing well.

Hockey

Our Yr 6 girls rounded out the IPSHA Hockey season with a disciplined 2-1 win against Pymble at Pymble last Saturday. This group of girls are great friends and work beautifully together be it on the pitch playing or helping and offering advice to our next generation of Hockey girls. Pictured at top.

Winter Before School Training Schedule

The Term 3 sporting calendar, showing all training, matches and events is available on Redlands Pulse.

For all trainings on the Junior School Oval, please use your own discretion in extreme rain and weather situations. Often parents and students will have left home to attend before we can make a realistic judgement on the weather. If there is no danger of lightning, nor heavy rain which would soak anyone training outdoors, our aim is to go ahead and run the session. Coaches and/or staff will be in attendance. It’s not always possible to find an alternative training venue, but students will be supervised until school begins in this circumstance.
