Junior Sport
AFL
The boys had a great win against Trinity last weekend with great contributions across the team and many players on the scoreboard. Lachlan Green played well up front as a goal sneak. Alex Ramsay as a first year player has really come along and is playing some great football as a ruckman and drifting forward to kick a goal. This week’s final match for the term is against Knox 2 at Acron Oval St Ives at 8am.
Girls AFL will be available for students from Yrs 5 and 6 during Term 3. There are still spots for players. Girls interested in playing AFL on Saturday mornings in Term 3 should sign up in the Sports Office ASAP. I’m hoping to have some info around the match schedule for Term 3 Girls AFL soon.
Netball
Our Redlands 13 girls continued on their winning ways and we continue to see improvement in our teams across the board. Redlands 18 racked up a season high 11 points in their first win of the season after having played some great tight matches that went against them on the scoreboard.

Rugby Sevens
Danny Gordon piled on points as our Yr 3/4 Rugby Sevens team came away with two wins on the weekend. The team is really gelling together well and with the help of Leonardo Migliucci, who very unselfishly helps the Junior team out playing four games each weekend, the team is looking really strong across the line.
Mr Brakell is loving the courage and commitment of the Yr 5/6 team who are stringing together some great football. Their willingness to throw the ball around and play entertaining running rugby is a joy to watch.
Hockey
This weekend will see the last match for our Hockey girls for the season. The match against Pymble is at 8.00am at Mollie Dive Field, Pymble Ladies College. The girls have played some really great hockey this season and will be looking to finish on a high note after victories in their last three matches including a 2-0 win over Roseville College last week, where Heidi De Saxe and Iona Gait controlled the game from the midfield with incisive passing and good heads up team play.
NSWCIS Cross Country
The racing is very tough at NSWCIS Cross Country and our four HICES reps battled bravely against some very tough competition. Daniel Benoleil finished 23rd, Landon Mansell 28th and Krishna Gupta 55th in fields of over 80 competitors. Jeffrey Benoliel unfortunately succumbed to ankle injury mid race, but gave it a real go.
To give you a picture of the standard of fitness, leading runners are completing a kilometre in 3 minutes 40 seconds and holding that speed through 2-3 kilometres. Really flying. Our boys did a great job.
Winter Before School Training Schedule
For all trainings on the Junior School Oval, please use your own discretion in extreme rain and weather situations. Often parents and students will have left home to attend before we can make a realistic judgement on the weather. If there is no danger of lightning, nor heavy rain which would soak anyone training outdoors, our aim is to go ahead and run the session. Coaches and/or staff will be in attendance. It’s not always possible to find an alternative training venue, but students will be supervised until school begins in this circumstance.
