Junior Sport
Round 1 Summer Sport
Last Saturday , our Representative Sports program commenced in earnest, with all scheduled matches unfolding as planned. It marked the initiation of our newest students’ journey into Representative Sports within the Junior School, as our Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 teams took part in round (1) of Girls Football, Mixed Tennis, Mixed Touch Football and Mixed Basketball.
Our Junior teams from Years 3/4 combined had an unbelievable start to their season with all six teams winning at home over Shore at home. Our Senior 5/6 teams secured 3 from 4 against our local neighbour, Mosman Prep. Well done to our Touch Football who had a win and a loss against Newington. While our Tennis side went down they will play their first home match this weekend.
Looking at administrative matters arising from Saturday’s sports activities, we highlight the following points:
- Please review the Summer Sport team lists on Wednesday evening for any team movements.
- Players must be attired in full Redlands apparel and have their water bottles placed beside the coach’s kit bag prior to the commencement of matches.
- Players are expected to meet with their respective coaches 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- The final home Basketball match scheduled in Dunnet Hall requires that team and families to assist in post-game pack up.
- Players are encouraged to express gratitude to their coaches at the conclusion of each match and to extend three cheers to the opposing team.
- If your child is absent submit an absence form online through the quick link on our Pulse Sporting page.
As communicated previously, the scheduling of Saturday morning matches for coaches, parents and staff will be updated and available via your Redlands App. This feature enables users to filter the schedule by sport and team, ensuring timely access to any alterations in match times or venues.
Given the fluid nature of sports schedules, we refrain from distributing email updates and urge recipients not to print out the schedule due to potential changes.

CIS Cricket

Zoe Todd is currently representing CIS Girls Cricket at NSW Championships and has written a report on her experience so far. Well done to Zoe on this achievement. As part of a the CIS Girls Cricket team we are playing this week in the NSW Primary Girls Cricket Carnival in Tuggerah which is on the Central Coast. The team plays 6 pool A matches and then a final against a team from pool B on Thursday afternoon. So far we have won 4 of the first 5 matches. It is lots of fun to play with a new team. All of the girls are very friendly and very good cricket players. It is quite tiring to play 2 games a day in the sun as often the games last for nearly 4 hours each. We also have some great team chants that I look forward to teaching Roseby when I get back.

Rep Sport Summer Sport Term 1
A reminder to check your app each week in regard to your child’s team as our teams are ‘fluid’, meaning teams may change from week to week depending on 3 main criteria:
ABILITY in direct comparison to other students across the sport
ATTENDANCE any student who misses 2 games in a season unrelated to sickness may be moved
ATTITUDE this is based on behaviour at trainings, on game day and not limited to the sporting arena
Parents and carers are reminded to check the teams each Friday afternoon for changes that may have taken place at training during the week. Students may at times be asked to fill in for other teams occasionally due to absences etc.
Representative Sports- Saturday Morning Match Wear
Just a reminder for all families who represent Redlands in Saturday sport only Redlands Sports Uniforms and match day kit is to be worn. Each family should own either a school tracksuit and or a fleece that they can wear over the top of their playing kit if they are cold.
Any incorrect item will now be confiscated as all students have received the same message.

The sport calendar for Term 1 onwards is available online on Junior School Sport Page. You can also view it by selecting here; 2025 JS Sport Calendar
Wednesday Sport inability to train
If your child has an injury that prevents them from training, please send through an email to Junior Sport juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au requesting they ‘sit out’ of training for that particular session. We can then forward this to the relevant external coaching staff. Where applicable please include when they can return to normal training, so coaches are aware of this. That way coaching staff are aware of an injury that prevents them from participating at the venue but also allows us to be aware of periods where they are medically required to ‘sit out’.
Representative Sport Student Absence
If students are absent on match day, parents are required to complete this online absence form. This will allow your responses to be passed on electronically to your child’s coach efficiently and at short notice. The Student Absence link can also be found on the Junior School Sport Page on Redlands Pulse.
Please don’t hesitate to view our Sport Information page on Redlands Pulse if you have any questions pertaining to Sport.
