Summer Rep Sport Students Only
As you would be aware your child has had their final training session this week and will have their final match on Saturday for their Term 1 Summer Sport (Basketball, Girls Football, Tennis and or Touch Football).
Your rep season for rounds 7 through to 12 will recommence in Term 4. Basketball and Touch Football jerseys will need to be returned to the sport office next week. A separate reminder will be sent to those families.
Commencing next week (Wednesday 20 March) your child will now be involved in Athletics preparation and this will continue until the last week of Term 1. It is listed in your child’s activities on the Redlands App as JS Activities Prep.
Students are to wear their sports uniform as normal (joggers, hat and water bottle) no additional equipment is required. They will be transported to Rotary Memorial Athletics track, Mowbray Rd, for their sport where they will undertake a program of instruction and participation for Athletics covering 50m, 100m, 200, 400m, 800, Long Jump, Shot Put and Discus events over the four weeks.
If you are one of those Summer Rep families who normally collect their child from their sport venue you may continue to do the same from Rotary Field just prior to bus boarding at 3:00pm. All other students will return to school for a normal 3:20pm dismissal time.
The students are very excited about this program and will prepare them for their upcoming units of Athletics in their PE classes next term.
Summer Non-Rep Students only: Your season of Non-Rep Sport (Swimming, Surfing, Sailing, Gymnastics, Tennis, Kayaking, etc) will continue as normal each Wednesday until the rest of the term.

Redlands Pulse The Junior School Sport pages on Redlands Pulse will continue to be the ‘source of truth’ for all information relating to sport this term. Representative Sports – Saturday Morning Match Wear
Just a reminder for all families who represent Redlands in Saturday sport only Redlands Sports Uniforms and match day kit is to be worn. Each family should own either a school tracksuit and or a fleece that they can wear over the top of their playing kit if they are cold. If your child feels the cold they may play in their fleece if their match allows it.
Any incorrect item will now be confiscated as all students have received the same message.
Paul Kelly Cup AFL Yr 5 & 6 Students
Thank you to those families who have completed the expression of interest for the AFL PKC. Named in honour of Sydney Swans legend and New South Wales footballer Paul Kelly, the cup is the Premier primary school AFL competition in the state. If we get enough interest will be entering 1 boys team and 1 girls team in the competitive competition which is a higher division than the ‘participation division’.
To select these teams we are currently inviting students in Years 5 & 6 to trial for a place in these teams. Each team will be capped at 16 players. Please note not everyone who signs up will make a team. If you are interested in registering to trial for the team please complete the registration form which can be found here.
Wednesday Sport Inability to Train
If your child has an injury that prevents them from training, please send through an email to Junior Sport juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au requesting they ‘sit out’ of training for that particular session. We can then forward this to the relevant external coaching staff. Where applicable please include when they can return to normal training, so coaches are aware of this. That way coaching staff are aware of an injury that prevents them from participating at the venue but also allows us to be aware of periods where they are medically required to ‘sit out’.
Sport Nominations
There are some sports that Redlands do not have a pathway through in our competition (IPSHA) but allow use to participate in at a higher level. For more information, please see Redlands Pulse as some nominations close this term. Nominations are only open to those students in Year 5 and 6 in 2024.
Representative Sport Student Absence
If students are absent on match day, parents are required to complete this online absence form. This will allow your responses to be passed on electronically to your child’s coach efficiently and at short notice. The Student Absence link can also be found on the Junior School Sport Page on Redlands Pulse.
Please don’t hesitate to view our Sport Information page on Redlands Pulse if you have any questions pertaining to Sport.
