HICES Athletics Carnival
HICES Athletics
On Wednesday we had 57 athletes representing Redlands travel out to Homebush to participate in the HICES Selection carnival for possible inclusion in the HICES team that would progress through to CIS. A mix of boys and girls from Under 9’s to Under 12’s who had qualified for the team based on their performance at our school carnivals competed with enthusiasm and maturity. In beautiful conditions it was perfect for those running on track but also participating in the field events. Our relay teams performed exceptionally after only a few weeks of changes. A short video of the Junior Boys Girls and Senior Boys and Girls 4x100m relay can be viewed here.
And in exciting news we set 2 new records at HICES, the first being Junior Boys 1500m where Aurelio Nicholas broke the HICES record with a run of 5:46.17. Our Senior boys relay team broke the HICES record with a run of 55.40, well done to these students.
We have 21 students qualify for the HICES team who will now compete at CIS later this term and those families have been notified this week.
