HICES Athletics Carnival

Good luck to our Junior School Athletics team at the HICES Selection carnival next Tuesday. These athletes have been training hard either on their own or in teams such as the relay teams pictured above since our school carnival and we wish them the best of luck next week. Information about our Athletics program can be viewed here.

Sydney Swans AFLW Matches @ North Sydney Oval

All Redlands students are invited to attend the upcoming match for the Sydney Swans AFLW when they take on GWS Giants on Sunday 3 September at 3pm on North Sydney Oval. Tickets are free for children under 18 Years of age and would be great to not only support the Swans but also support one of our coaching staff, Montana Ham, who plays for the Swans.

Last year we had quite a few families turn up and support with players coming over to us in the stands to meet the Redlands students. The link to purchase tickets can be found here.

Montana Ham was the number one draft pick in the 2022 draft and nominated New South Wales in the state-based draft. Montana started playing football when she was just four years old and has played in four NAB League campaigns, being named best on ground in Vic Metro’s championship this season. She was also judged MVP for the National AFLW Academy side in their game against the U23 All-Stars. Coach Scott Gowans said: “Montana is an elite talent. She is a 180cm midfielder who can play forward as well. She loves contested footy, has clean hands and a strong work ethic. We will play Montana in various roles to suit the team’s needs. Fans can also expect to see her spend some time across the half-back line.

For those of you whose child is coached by Montana you may wish to show them this ‘day in the life of’ clip.

Don’t delay in securing some tickets as the local derby will ensure a great crowd.

Students may wear their sports uniform to this session as Basketball Jerseys will be loaned out to them for the upcoming season once teams are selected.

Wednesday Sport Inability to Train

If your child has an injury that prevents them from training, please send through an email to Junior Sport juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au requesting they ‘sit out’ of training for that particular session. We can then forward this to the relevant external coaching staff. Where applicable please include when they can return to normal training so coaches are aware of this. That way coaching staff are aware of an injury that prevents them from participating at the venue but also allows us to be aware of periods where they are medically required to ‘sit out’.

Sport Calendar

The sport calendar for Term 3 onwards is available online on Junior School Sport Page. You can also view it by selecting here; 2023 JS Sport Calendar

Representative Sport Student Absence

If students are absent on match day, parents are required to complete this online absence form. This will allow your responses to be passed on electronically to your child’s coach efficiently and at short notice. The Student Absence link can also be found on the Junior School Sport Page on Redlands Pulse.

Please don’t hesitate to view our Sport Information page on Redlands Pulse if you have any questions pertaining to Sport.
