Junior Sport
IPSHA Sports
Our IPSHA sport season has now finished. Before school training for Winter sports has also now concluded (except for Netball which continues on until Semis and Finals in the NSNA competition). Our team awards for the Winter season will be presented on Monday 16 September at Junior School Assembly.
Wednesday Summer Sports Beginning 12 September
Our basketballers are starting to kick off their pre-season training and coaches are in Dunnet Hall each Monday, Wednesday and Friday to put the students through an individual skills and fitness session. It’s great to start the school day with a workout and sessions are available for players in both the mixed and girls programs.
NSNA Netball
Four of our five finals Netball teams made it through last week’s preliminary finals matches. All four have progressed to elimination matches this weekend and are working hard to make it to the big dance by winning matches this Friday. Redlands 11 won in a nail-biting finish – the winning goal passing through as the hooter went in a wonderful come-from-behind victory. It’s been a welcome return to finals play for so many of our teams and it’s been great to see the team and school spirit running high on Friday night at Willoughby.
NSW Snowsports Championships
Twelve Redlands Junior School students have qualified for the Australian Snowsports Championships after great performances at the State titles last week. Julianna Harrington, Avie Keller, Julius Keller, Gianmarco Pradel, Liam McFarlane, Mia McFarlane, Felicity Schlederer, Seb Speziali and Daisy Thomas will all be representing Redlands and NSW as they vie for National Championships in Division 4 and 5 Alpine, Skier Cross and Moguls.
HICES Athletics
Redlands played host to the HICES Athletics Championships last Tuesday and put on a fantastic display both on and off the track. Massive thanks to our student helpers who were magnificent representatives of our school through their willing helpfulness and cheerful assistance throughout the day. The 60 strong Redlands team also showed on the track that they were a force to be reckoned with leading in the points tally for much of the day – falling agonisingly short to a very powerful Central Coast Grammar Athletics team. Redlands showed off a full range of blue ribbons and big smiles – many of our athletes certain to make the HICES team for the upcoming CIS Athletics Carnival. The HICES team is expected to be named by Friday. Check with the Sports department for updates.
Photos
We love photos and showing off your great action shots from sports fixtures on Saturday. If anyone has any pics or takes any in the future, I love to use them to showcase our current teams and past teams on the rolling display in Dunnet Hall. Please send me the pics, or a link or even pop them in on a USB (it will be returned) to the Sports Office or Adrian Carter.
