Junior Sport

Welcome to Term 4, we hope you and your family enjoyed the holidays. We recommence our Summer Sport Season from Term 1 for our Representative Sports program along with our Non-Representative Wednesday Sport Program this week.

The information that was sent out to you last week in our Term 4 Sport Notification has been put together to provide you with a picture of the overall landscape of the Term. Please take the time to read through this information which will assist you and your child this term. For those of you with children involved in our Representative Sports program there is some more information for you on the final page of the notification.

2022 Sport Information Booklet for Families

This link was shared with you via email towards at the start of last term but if you want a refresher, please click on the link you can view this booklet. For all Sport information regarding what sports we offer when, how to navigate our documents, as well as information on Uniforms and Carnivals please refer to our Parent Information Booklets on Pulse.

Redlands Pulse

The Junior School Sport pages on Redlands Pulse will continue to be the ‘source of truth’ for all information relating to Sport this term. As you would be aware, our updated Pulse provides more functionality and more positive user interaction. If parents have an enquiry relating to sport that your first port of call will be the Junior School Sport section of Redlands Pulse.

Sport Calendar

We have a Sport Calendar for each Term. To view the 2022 Term 4 Sports Calendar please click here

This calendar is regularly updated and provides all the key dates for you for school sport, carnivals and major events.

Wet Weather- Wednesday Sport

In the case of wet weather on a Wednesday, updates will be posted on our Wet Weather Pulse page. If you pick your child up directly at the venue, please refer to this page prior to going to ensure that they are at the venue as alternative plans may have been made depending on the location, weather and provider. Late changes to venues, times and staffing are shown in red font.

Term 1 Summer Sport Nomination 2023

Nominations for Term 1 Summer Sport for 2023 will be sent home in the coming weeks. Information on the Sports on offer in both our Representative and Non-Representative programs can be found in the Sports Information booklet link above. Please note that students who select a Term 1 Representative Sport for 2023 will continue that sport in Term 4 as our competition is split into two sections.

Contacting Junior Sports Department

All relevant documents and information for Sport are available to you on the Junior Sport Pulse Page. Should you need to contact the sport department for anything you are unable to find on Pulse, the quickest response by us will be and preferred way is through email: juniorsport@redlands.nsw.edu.au. Due to our sport/teaching/class commitments requiring us to be away from the office, we are unable to attend the phone at all times.

Right place, Right time, Right equipment

It is my aim for all Redlands Junior School Students to follow these three guidelines when they are playing sport, be it Representative Sport or Non-Representative Sport. In the processes I have put in place all digital documents that will assist you in achieving these three things.

Term 4 Summer Representative Sport

Representative Sport Team Lists

For weekly team selections please refer to the Term 4 Summer Sport team lists. These will be updated on Pulse following each fixture. Please remember that our Redlands Representative teams are fluid, meaning teams may change week to week depending on three main criteria: Ability, Attendance and Attitude. Any team movements will be discussed with your child by their coach. Given that we play in a graded competition, we aim to provide the most competitive team for that round. There may be times where your child is asked to also fill in on a second game when absences are high.

Representative Sport Absences

If your child is unable to attend a training session or Saturday fixture, please complete our Sports Absence form located on Pulse. This will allow Sports department staff and coaches to view prior and post fixtures and allow for another student to be contacted to fill in to make up numbers. As mentioned above, unexplained absences will affect your child’s gradings. As Representative Sport is not compulsory at Redlands, we expect all students who have committed to a team, commit to each game and training session for the duration of the season. Absences due to ‘club’ commitments are not permitted.

Wednesday Sport Inability to Train

If your child has an injury that prevents them from training, please send through a note requesting they ‘sit out’ of training for that particular session. Where applicable please include when they can return to normal training so coaches are aware of this. That way coaching staff are aware of an injury that prevents them from participating at the venue but also allows us to be aware of periods where they are medically required to ‘sit out’.

Draw

The Term 4 Draw is available to view online. You can view it here and save to your phone/device- 2022 Term 4 Summer Draw. As it is live and subject to change, please do not print off the draw. We recommend checking back each Friday evening to ensure you have the correct time and venue for the following morning. There may be occasions where host schools change a time or location midweek and when this occurs the draw will be updated.
