Junior School Swimming Carnival
The annual Junior School Swimming Carnival (Yrs 3 – 6) was rescheduled from Term 1 and will take place at the Sydney Aquatic Centre, Homebush on Wednesday 15 June. The Carnival has a focus on House spirit and participation as well as allowing a Swim Team to be selected for Invitational Swim Meets in Term 4. To help encourage strong participation again, we are offering events in the two pools (25m and 50m) to all students from all age groups. Students have been allocated a 1, 2- or 3-digit number and were asked to memorise this number. On the day of the carnival students need to have this number written in large black font on their arm. When an event they want to swim in is called, students come down to the pool and register with this entrant number.

All parents/carers would have received the Junior School Swimming Carnival package that includes all the preparation details leading up to and on the day. Please refer here to view
Events: Parents & Teachers can follow what events are being called by viewing this link.
Timing and Transport: Buses will depart school (Allister St) at 7.30am sharp. Please be at school by 7.20am on the oval for roll call at the latest. Buses will return to school (Murdoch St at 4.00pm (traffic dependent), students collected from the oval
Age Championship points can only be attained by swimming in the 50m pool. Students who choose to swim in the 25m pool will be swimming for House points only. 25m events are intended for those students who cannot comfortably swim a full 50m lap. Students who swim in 25m events cannot enter the same event in the 50m pool.
Every student swimming in a race receives a point for their House.
Place ribbons will be awarded in both pools and to every race.
With our entrant number system, every student will receive a digital time for every event they swim in the competition pool.
HICES Cross Country
Congratulations to the students listed below on representing HICES at the CIS Cross Country Championships at Eastern Creek on Wednesday. In some very cold and windy conditions we had our largest number of qualify to run at this meet with all team members enjoying the tough run. In an outstanding performance Olivia Law, Year 6, won her race coming 1st in the 12 years girls race out of a field of 130 running the 3km course just on 11 minutes. An excellent performance and she makes her way through to the CIS team as the fastest qualifier for the NSW Carnival.

T-BALL
We have a number of students in Redlands who are involved in external sports. Georgia Darragh in Year 3 plays Representative TBall for Manly Warringah and on the weekend won the Under 10 State Championships after going undefeated all weekend.
And in another Redlands connection, Lauren Rolfe from Year 6 (was selected to be a Trainee Coach for the team. Pictures of Lauren and Georgia together below. It was pleasing to hear that Lauren gave up an enormous amount of her time to work with the other four coaches to train the girls.
The final picture below is of the girls pre–Grand Final pep talk – which they were lucky to receive from Jade Wall who is an Australian softballer who has represented Australia at the Olympics. Well done Georgia and Lauren.
