Cross Country

Our annual Junior School Cross Country carnival took place at a new venue this year, Tunks Park Cammeray due to construction of the Harbour Connect Tunnel at Cammeray Golf Club. In the first of our big three carnivals there was much excitement leading up to the first event especially on a new course with no more hills which students were extremely excited about. Even those students who were not impressed with the longer run seemed to enjoy running though the muddy patches on it once they got started. Thank you to the parents and families who attended and supported the carnival.

Unlike other major carnivals students participate and compete in their grade but by using the entrant number system we can break down the results into age groups where we select our representative team from.

Winning House

With points awarded to all place getters and participants in both events congratulations to the winning house for 2022.

1st Place                  Dumolo 252

2nd Place                Roseby 236

3rd Place                 McDouall 218

4th Place                   Cowper 208

Thank you to the House Captains who assisted on the day motivating, cheering and supporting their house. Congratulations to Dumolo House who won the house cup with points based on both the Championship Event and the Fun Run Event. Congratulations to captains Thomas Bentley and Catherine Andrews who led their team to victory.

Age Champions

The below results are from the Championship Races and will be presented their ribbons and medals shortly. While grades ran together on the day the use of electronic timing allowed me to split the results back into age groups for the purpose of presentation. These students will receive their awards at our next assembly, Tuesday 29 March.

CIS Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to our Redlands students who represented HICES at today’s CIS Swimming Championships.

Gymnastics Open Day

In exciting news we can confirm that IPSHA Gymnastics will be up and running later this year. At this carnival Schools are invited to send through a school gymnastics team in a variety of disciplines for both boys and girls from Grade 3 through to Grade 6.

In 2022, Redlands Junior School is going to be involved in this carnival after a two year COVID break and we would like to train up and send a team of boys and girls to compete at this one off carnival held in August.

Similar to our Athletics and Cross Cross Country Carnivals we will provide training for this Gymnastics Carnival and these sessions will take place in and around your child’s current Non Rep and or Rep Sport with no clashes.

As you would be aware we have a new contractor, Aussie Gems Gymnastics ,who are running our recreational program during Wednesday Sport as well as coming on board for this new representative gym program (IPSHA Gym).

OPEN DAY- COME AND SEE WHAT IT IS ABOUT
On Saturday 21 May from 12:00pm- 1:30pm Aussie Gems are opening their facility for Redlands students and their parents who may be interested in giving IPSHA Gymnastics a go this year to come and watch some demonstrations, give some of the equipment a go and see if they want to pursue it as a sport.

Open Day Location – Unit 10, 25 Frenchs Forest Rd East, Located in Allambie Grove Business Park

Please see the attached flyer. While the Open Day is some time away both Aussie Gems and I would like to see if there is enough interest to move forward.
