JUNIOR SPORT Redlands Pulse

Redlands Pulse Sport Page

Again another reminder to take the time to review the information on this page. I appreciate Term 1 is very busy given the number of events taking place but the information on this page will be helpful. The Junior School Sport pages on Redlands Pulse will continue to be the ‘source of truth’ for all information relating to sport this term. I am asking that if parents have an enquiry relating to sport, that your first port of call will be the Junior School Sport section of Redlands Pulse.

Carnival

For more information relating to the upcoming Carnival this term, please refer to the Carnival page on Redlands Pulse. For those of you who are new to Redlands, please feel free to watch the following video with your child to give them an idea of what to expect on the day Athletics Carnival Video.

Field Events Trials

Thank you to all those families who registered for their child to participate in the trials for field events at the Carnival. Only those students who registered will be allowed to participate in these trials and will receive more information shortly. For those trials taking place after school, please ensure your child knows how they are getting home (picked up at venue or coming back to school on the bus) at the completion of the trials.

Basketball

Our Yrs 3 and 4 teams had their first game of the season on the weekend against Newington having being washed out last week. A few highlights from these games.

D team – Rachael Lloyd was named most defensive player and always creating chances offensively.

C team – Alex Dunnet and Mac Costa were brute forces offensively keeping the buffer throughout the game.

B team – Philippine Courtaigne had a stellar performance grabbing numerous rebounds and top scoring for the team with over 20 points.

A team – Oliver Elworthy was resilient and a consistent offensive force throughout the game, almost clawing back the win against Newington.

Football

As advertised on Redlands Pulse and in Note Day, the afterschool Football sessions for Junior School students that previously took place on Monday afternoon will now move to Wednesday and Friday mornings. This will allow the grades to train together over the two days with an additional session on offer to cater for families who struggled with a PM pick up as well as only having one session. There is no charge for this program.

Tennis

Having been washed out for the first round, our coaching staff remarked that it was great to finally get the term underway last week with some great Tennis played by both schools. Redlands came up against Riverview and both teams were quite well matched. Angus was proud of the skills shown by all of our Redlands students.

Special mention to Nick and Thomas who won both their doubles match and their singles as well bringing the team a few wins for their first round. Also thank you to Lyndon for saying a few words and the beginning and end as well. It is also vital that our Tennis players arrive 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match time so that a proper warm up and court instructions can occur.
