Weeks 8-9 Arrangements
I continue to be impressed with the mature, responsible and supportive manner students are handling the altered Senior Campus arrangements. While there are some changes to routines and normal practice, students appear to be thriving back in the On-Campus Learning environment. We are continuing to review and update our practices during this time. This week, we will be trialling having organised play and sport activities on the basketball courts at lunchtime for specific Year Groups and from Saturday 13 June some face to face classes will be commencing for students at the Redlands Ballet and Dance Academy. Parents should go to the Ballet and Dance section of Note Day for further information. We are now reviewing Term 3 arrangements and preparing for different contingencies depending on the medical and educational advice we receive. We will continue to communicate updates via Note Day and the Covid-19 section of Redlands Pulse and, again, we thank you for your continued support and feedback.
Parent Student Teacher Nights
Yesterday evening we held our Yr 10 Parent Student Teacher night remotely via Zoom and over the next two weeks we will also have our upcoming Parent Student Teacher nights online for Yrs 12 and 9. Information will be sent home to these families about how they can schedule their meetings with teachers and access the meetings via Zoom. We would ask parents to please read these directions carefully as we are continuing to try to improve and update our procedures for these meetings. If you have any general questions about these nights, please send enquiries to Susan Jones. If you need ICT support for any of these evenings, please contact our ICT Support team. While different than in person meetings, we still hope these meetings will provide valuable academic feedback for students and families.
Reports
Students in Yrs 7-12 will receive their Semester 1 Reports over the coming weeks. We believe these reports will also give important and valuable feedback to students as they prepare for the second half of the school year. In addition to the challenges faced with the Covid-19 pandemic and the move to Remote Learning, we have also moved to a new reporting system with Engage this year. Accordingly, there might be some minor delays as we prepare the reports to be sent home to families in the coming weeks. We still intend to have all reports sent home before the commencement of Term 3; however, we do appreciate your patience during this time.
Secondary School Prize Vouchers
A number of students still have unclaimed book prize vouchers from 2019. Because of the challenging circumstances over the past few months, we have asked the book sellers for an extension for the redemption of these prize vouchers until the start of Term 3. Accordingly, if you have not yet claimed your prize voucher from Speech Night last year, you will be able to redeem the voucher until 21 July. Please contact the Secondary School Library with any further questions.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Yr 10 student Victoria Butler who won the 2020 NSW Hanyu Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition. This competition is for students aged 15 to 20 years old to illustrate their knowledge of Chinese culture and language with the aim of “building a bridge” of communication for young people in China and around the world to learn from one another. Victoria’s video on Chinese traditional painting was highly praised by the judges and we wish her all the best when she represents NSW in the national round of this competition in Term 3.
