Issue 18 2020 - 11 Jun 2020

From the Principal

I enjoyed the opportunity to speak to the Preparatory School students at our assembly today on the topic of ‘Resilience’. The focus of my comments to our younger students was on the importance of bouncing back following setbacks and disappointments. It can be hard for us to make mistakes and then respond positively, to realise it is acceptable to get things wrong and that we learn from these experiences.

There is some irony in me presenting to our young students on this topic, as the reality is that they are often better at demonstrating resilience than adults. Growing through childhood and adolescence is full of moments of uncertainty, confronting fears and negotiating new challenges. The students do bounce back, they are prepared to confront new and difficult situations and they continue to grow through these experiences. At times as parents we can be too focused on smoothing out the path for our children and forget that they will only truly grow and develop by learning to deal with adversity. I know that my three adult children in Perth are certainly learning through the experience of looking after themselves and the demands of independent living!

This period of uncertainty and challenge we have all been facing with COVID-19 has reinforced the importance of flexibility of thinking, working together collaboratively and being creative when problem-solving. Resilience throughout the school community has been required and it has been pleasing to see staff being prepared to take risks, try new initiatives and realise it has been acceptable to make mistakes in doing so, and grow from the experience.

I continue to be most thankful for the support we have received from parents and carers throughout this period. This has been in tangible ways through messages of support, valuable feedback, encouragement and the much appreciated staff morning tea treats, some of which are still being enjoyed (I don’t know how the Tim Tams packets have lasted so long in Lone Oak). I acknowledge and respect that this support has been provided whilst families have been dealing with their own personal challenges.

It has been pleasing to see more cocurricular activities again becoming available for the students, particularly with sports training resuming. The announcement that community sport will be recommencing from the start of July, in line with the AIS Framework, is most encouraging and we look forward to the potential opportunity to return to fixtures in Term 3.

New Learning Hub – Visual Arts

I had a chance to visit the ground floor of the New Learning Hub and talk to the Head of Visual Arts, Mr Mark Harpley. I have learnt that apart from four art classrooms, students can use a wet ceramic area, a dark room for photography, and an enquiry zone for independent study. There is plenty of storage and easy access for supplies. An outdoor area will be also used for teaching and learning once completed. Classrooms are equipped with whiteboards which can be used interactively with the projector.

Mr Harpley also shared with me the excitement about our Yrs 11-12 students exhibiting their artwork at Dominik Mersch Gallery from 9-12 July, arranged by our Yr 12 Prefect and Visual Arts Captain Sunday Stephens.

Legacy Gift of Class of 2020 – The Tradition Continues

Thank you sincerely to those families and members of our community who have already contributed to the gift of the Class of 2020. Your support means a lot and is very encouraging for our Yr 12 students whose goal is to purchase a ping pong table to be situated in the green space around the Learning Hub and to contribute funds to the Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund.

Their first fundraising initiative has launched – a Yr 12 tea towel, featuring students’ hand-drawn faces. You can pre-order these wonderful gifts as well as a traditional Redlands tea towel online by clicking here. Both these options are beautiful gifts for family and friends and make a lovely memory for your Redlander. Orders are appreciated by the end of Term 2 and will be ready for collection in Term 3.

Congratulations to the Legacy Gift team and the Class of 2020, a great effort!

Weeks 8-9 Arrangements

I continue to be impressed with the mature, responsible and supportive manner students are handling the altered Senior Campus arrangements. While there are some changes to routines and normal practice, students appear to be thriving back in the On-Campus Learning environment. We are continuing to review and update our practices during this time. This week, we will be trialling having organised play and sport activities on the basketball courts at lunchtime for specific Year Groups and from Saturday 13 June some face to face classes will be commencing for students at the Redlands Ballet and Dance Academy. Parents should go to the Ballet and Dance section of Note Day for further information. We are now reviewing Term 3 arrangements and preparing for different contingencies depending on the medical and educational advice we receive. We will continue to communicate updates via Note Day and the Covid-19 section of Redlands Pulse and, again, we thank you for your continued support and feedback.

Parent Student Teacher Nights

Yesterday evening we held our Yr 10 Parent Student Teacher night remotely via Zoom and over the next two weeks we will also have our upcoming Parent Student Teacher nights online for Yrs 12 and 9. Information will be sent home to these families about how they can schedule their meetings with teachers and access the meetings via Zoom. We would ask parents to please read these directions carefully as we are continuing to try to improve and update our procedures for these meetings. If you have any general questions about these nights, please send enquiries to Susan Jones. If you need ICT support for any of these evenings, please contact our ICT Support team. While different than in person meetings, we still hope these meetings will provide valuable academic feedback for students and families.

Reports

Students in Yrs 7-12 will receive their Semester 1 Reports over the coming weeks. We believe these reports will also give important and valuable feedback to students as they prepare for the second half of the school year. In addition to the challenges faced with the Covid-19 pandemic and the move to Remote Learning, we have also moved to a new reporting system with Engage this year. Accordingly, there might be some minor delays as we prepare the reports to be sent home to families in the coming weeks. We still intend to have all reports sent home before the commencement of Term 3; however, we do appreciate your patience during this time.

Secondary School Prize Vouchers

A number of students still have unclaimed book prize vouchers from 2019. Because of the challenging circumstances over the past few months, we have asked the book sellers for an extension for the redemption of these prize vouchers until the start of Term 3. Accordingly, if you have not yet claimed your prize voucher from Speech Night last year, you will be able to redeem the voucher until 21 July. Please contact the Secondary School Library with any further questions.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Yr 10 student Victoria Butler who won the 2020 NSW Hanyu Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition. This competition is for students aged 15 to 20 years old to illustrate their knowledge of Chinese culture and language with the aim of “building a bridge” of communication for young people in China and around the world to learn from one another. Victoria’s video on Chinese traditional painting was highly praised by the judges and we wish her all the best when she represents NSW in the national round of this competition in Term 3.

Study Tips for Parents

Helping students transition back to On-Campus Learning

  1. Be Gentle with Expectations for Quite Some Time
Everyone (parents, teachers and students) will be affected differently by the experiences this year and for different periods of time. We need to remember that this anxiety can manifest in many ways and therefore be gentle. We are better to err on the side of being uber-supportive this year. If you are concerned about your student’s level of anxiety, reach out and seek help from a professional.
  2. Keep Lines of Communication as Open as Possible
Students who are anxious often will bottle up their worries and concerns. Without being annoying (and it is a fine line) we need to let students know they can talk about what is worrying them. Both parents and teachers need to create opportunities that give students permission to share in a non-threatening environment.
  3. Minimise News Consumption and Pandemic Discussion or Direct Focus on Encouraging Statistics
If students are anxious, over-exposure to constant negative news can wear them down. Highlighting the positive and encouraging news and statistics can help students to focus their thoughts in a constructive direction. Make positive plans together for the future so students have good things to focus on instead and focus more on what they can control rather than what they can’t.
  4. Re-Focus on the Pillars of Health: Exercise, Sleep, Healthy Eating
Even though we will no longer be in complete lock-down, students still won’t be able to do all of their usual activities for some time. We need to ensure students are still exercising in some way, perhaps snacking a bit less and more of a focus on healthy eating. Good sleep has been proven time and again to contribute to happiness, health and academic success.
  5. Allow Students Lots of Opportunities to Re-Connect
We need to be over-generous in allowing students to spend time with friends and extended family members for the rest of this year. Students may find the school day overwhelming and exhausting at the moment. After so much ‘family’ time, don’t be hurt if they aren’t that keen to socialise when they get home and just want to go to their room. Don’t let them be a complete hermit, but do let them have time to themselves to decompress from the day. Many students will need to renegotiate the dynamics with their peers and this readjustment may be stressful for some students.
  6. Reset the Routine and Daily Schedule
Routine creates certainty in an uncertain world. Having established routines and guidelines to follow is reassuring for students. Giving students a chance to contribute to the decisions as to what the new routine should be (such as bedtime) is also important. This will include starting to dial back screen time if it was increased during the last few months. In line with our ‘take it slow’ approach, you won’t be going back to how things were earlier this year yet. It is more about reducing the screen time to make way for the schoolwork that will need to be done.
  7. Look For Ways to Support Students’ Studies
After they have been back at school for a couple of weeks, ask your child directly if there is anything they have fallen behind in or need help with. Of course many students won’t tell you, so if you do have concerns contact the school – either a year teacher or a subject teacher directly. While we do want students to start getting into good working habits again, it needs to be a gently gently approach. This means they may not be doing as much work at home as they did earlier this year, and that is ok for now. The exception is our senior students. We want these students to get back into their regular study patterns as soon as they are able. If this means that parents are making extra snacks for Yr 12 or Googling to find a study guide for them, then so be it.

Learn more this year about how to improve your results and be more efficient and effective with your schoolwork by working through the units on www.studyskillshandbook.com.au. Our school’s access details are: Username: redlands; Password: 68results

Year 10

This week Parent Student Teacher Zoom meetings were held for Yr 10. From initial feedback it seemed to go well and some parents have commented that this virtual system is just as useful and productive as face-to-face meetings. If you have any concerns about your child after speaking to his/her teachers on Wednesday, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with either their Tutor or me. In addition, if you or your child are struggling with subject selections, please feel free to contact me and/or ask your child to come and speak to me. Tony and I appreciate that this may be a daunting time for the students and we are doing what we can to ensure they have all the information to make the best choice for themselves.

Student Achievements

A big congratulations to Victoria Butler who won the 2020 NSW Hanyu Bridge Chinese Proficiency Competition. An article with Victoria’s photo was published on the official website of the Education Office, Consulate-General of The People’s Republic of China in Sydney. In August, Victoria will represent New South Wales to compete against winners and runners up from other states in the national round of this competition, with the winner of this then representing Australia against the rest of the world.

Key Dates

Yr 9 Parent Student Teacher Night Wednesday 24 June
Yr 9 into Yr 10 Information Night Wednesday 22 July

Communication with Teachers

As students move into their final stages of school, your child will start developing more independence. These changes will start affecting the way parents communicate and connect with the School. Students should be taking more responsibility for communicating with their teachers (eg when away from lessons, have questions about subject content etc.)

Parents can still have a relationship with the School that fits around their child’s changing social needs. One of the best ways to continue helping your child is to create a supportive environment for education at home – an environment that values education. This might involve simply talking about schoolwork together, discussing your child’s career plans and ambitions, or talking through the links between your child’s schoolwork and their future goals.

Permission Needed – Let’s Mark This Moment in History

Last week, Yr 9 participated in Australia Post’s Dear Australia initiative. For letters to be posted, parent permission needs to be granted via Engage, by the end of term. We thank you for your support of this activity.

Parents on Campus

In an effort to limit the amount of people coming onto the School campus during the day, we are asking parents to not drop items off in the Secondary School Office or any office on the school grounds. Yr 9 students should be responsible for their own items and we can usually assist with any issues if students communicate with their Tutor or Year Advisors.

Lunch Orders – Canteen

Please remind your children that if they have any issues with lunch orders or cannot locate their lunch order to please speak with the Canteen Manager, Mr Joel Squire, or another Canteen staff member who will be able to address the issue.

Social Distancing

We would appreciate it if parents are able to have continued conversations with their children regarding community expectations with social distancing. It is very easy for us all to feel that life has returned to normal due to having returned to school and being able to see and chat to friends and teachers. However, the general public are more alert to the need for social distancing and students have been seen clustering together outside of the school grounds and making it difficult for members of the public to enter retail premises or pass by in the street while maintaining the recommended distance.

Pastoral Care

This week in Pastoral Care, Yr 9  has explored the feelings one experiences when situations crop up that are out of our control. So far, 2020 has been a year of challenges from bushfires to pandemics, changing political landscapes to civil unrest. Students are all experiencing these challenges in different ways and it is understandable that all of us could be feeling unsettled about the present and unsure about the future. Through activities, students explored how negative emotions can manifest themselves and how they can relate these emotions to different circumstances. Students then tried to establish ways they can exert control of some of these situations to improve their overall outlook.

Reminders

  • Yr 8 Parent Teacher Evening is on Wednesday 5 August. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet all of your child’s teachers and to hear how your child is going in each subject.
  • On Thursdays, our Sports staff will be supporting Yr 8 students in accessing the courts during lunch while following very strict COVID-19 regulations.  Students have been eager to move around and play some games during this extended lunchtime and we will be trialling an organised activity this week. Other Year Groups will have access at other times.

Academic Support

Thank you for your support in helping our Yr 8 students take ownership of their learning by encouraging students to proactively message their teachers directly with specific subject questions. This is an essential skill for students to learn in order to avoid falling behind and to stay up-to-date with assignments. It is insightful and appreciated to read a well-written email to a teacher from a student with a request for help. As this may be out of student comfort zones, Tutors are able to help guide students in taking this step.

The Study Centre also reopened last week and many students are taking advantage of the New Learning Hub levels for academic support. Access to the Study Centre hours and subject information is linked in Key Information in the Yr 8 Pastoral Page for students on iLearn.

Getting Along

In Tutor, students are learning about 24 character strengths these last few weeks of Term 2 and identifying their own strengths as well as what they see in others.  As part of this discussion, students are being asked to consider how they treat others and what others do that impacts them, specifically including name calling. Unfortunately, name calling occurs online and throughout the school day among young people. Students were asked yesterday, what does it mean to be empathetic? One student replied, “To be able to stand in someone else’s shoes.”  Many times, name calling is a reaction prior to taking the time to stand in the shoes of the receiving person. Empathy is one of the 24 character strengths which help students learn how they are best able to get along with one another in such a diverse world. Especially with so many people around the world at this time impacted by COVID-19 and social injustice, it is essential for young people to develop empathy to strengthen their own social awareness in order to work with others every day in school and for the rest of their lives.

The eSafety Commissioner has further information regarding name calling and bullying online found here.

Yr 6 Preparation for Yr 7, 2021

As part of the phased preparation for the transition to Secondary School, Yr 6 students and parents took part in this week’s Zoom information session, hosted by our Head of Secondary School, Mr Sean Corcoran.

In talking to some of the students afterwards, they enjoyed hearing about the many opportunities that will be presented to them in their next phase of their schooling from Mr Corcoran, Secondary Dean of Students Mrs Carolyn Shaw, and two current Yr 7 students about their experiences in the transition. I was also able to share aspects of the preparatory work that is already well underway in the Junior School and will step up further next term in the final two terms of Yr 6.

Following on from the session, Yr 6 have been enjoying small group visits by class to the Senior Campus where they have been led on tours by our Registrar, Ms Carey. I joined one of the tours and it was delightful to see the group’s excitement in seeing new spaces that they might soon learn in as well as meet some Secondary School staff. The New Learning Hub was a highlight of the tour for many as they popped into a couple of classrooms and got a sense of learning in the Secondary School context.

For those parents who couldn’t make it, a copy of the presentation and a link to the Zoom session has been uploaded to the Yr 6 page of Redlands Pulse. If you have any questions, please contact me via email or Mr Corcoran for Secondary School specific questions.

Junior School Performing Arts Update

Most Junior School Ballet and Dance classes will continue via Zoom until the end of Term 2. Please note that the exceptions are Grade 4 Ballet (Tuesday only) and Grade 5 Ballet (Tuesday and Wednesday).

The NSW Government has recently announced that COVID-19 restrictions were lifting for indoor classes in Dance studios from Saturday 13 June. However, this requires very specific spatial and hygiene requirements and as such, most Junior School Ballet and Dance classes will remain online at this time.

Drama activities will also continue via Zoom and we hope to be able to resume face-to-face classes as close to the start of Term 3 as possible. Please find further details on Redlands Pulse.

Head of Preparatory School

I trust you enjoyed a restful long weekend and were able to enjoy some down time together. The weather certainly turned it on for us as we basked in winter sun and enjoyed cold nights. It is timely to remind everyone to make sure that our learners have their umbrellas or raincoats in bags and that they have adequate ‘layers’ to either peel off or put on during colder days. It is also really important for our students to be wearing the correct winter uniform. If you are unsure of what this is, please ask us! Gumboots and additional coloured jackets are not part of the school uniform. Please ensure that all items of clothing are labelled and that your child knows that if they lose a piece of clothing to have a look in Lost Property. A hat is still very much an essential piece of the School uniform at recess and lunch so please make sure your child has it in their bag every day.

Temperature Checking

So far taking temperatures in the classrooms after arrival has been successful and has allowed our drop off in the mornings to flow a little smoother. The same system will apply where your child presents with a high temperature or cold /flu symptoms, parents will be called and will require medical clearance to return to school. Thank you to all families who have been understanding and supportive of this process. Redlands continue to follow guidelines that keep our students and families safe.

Prep Ballet and Dance Update

As you may know the NSW government has recently announced that Coronavirus restrictions were lifting for indoor classes in Dance studios, as at Saturday 13 June. However, this requires very specific spatial and hygiene requirements and as such all Prep School Ballet and Dance classes will remain online until the end of Term 2. We will start face to face Prep Dance classes as soon as possible, in Term 3.

‘Super Writers’

You may not have noticed but we have ‘super writers’ in our midst in Kindergarten! These students who magically appear with a superhero cape are known as the ‘super writers’ for the day. This is an engaging and motivating tool in the development of effective writers who are starting to take risks with their writing. They wear the capes with pride and confidence. These capes aren’t given to the ‘best writer’ or the ‘longest story’, they are given to those students who have demonstrated courage in their writing skills, embraced a new skill or have tried really hard to improve. Everyone loves to win something for being ‘the best’ and often this is what society rewards but for learners it is so important for us to acknowledge and reward the process, developing and growth of a skill. Let’s celebrate our ‘super writers’ each and everyday as they navigate the use of language to express themselves in all sorts of different ways.

Redlands House/Transition Gold

Uniform

As the weather turns colder, it can be tempting to layer up the children in a variety of warmer clothes that are not part of the Redlands uniform. Please remember the importance of uniform, and ensure your child is dressed appropriately in accordance with school guidelines. A variety of warm and comfortable uniforms items are available at the Uniform Shop for purchase.

Toys at Preschool

We are blessed with beautiful resources at Redlands House, so we encourage the children to please leave toys at home. They can become lost or broken whilst at Preschool. If your child has a special item to share for News, please leave this with your class teacher in the morning. We have discussed this matter with the children and we thank you for your support with this.

Hockey

Thank you to all players for their commitment to Hockey training, it has been great to see students back out on the field in preparation for the possibility of a competition next term. Please see the schedule below for Week 8:

Yrs 10-12: Saturday 13 June: 11.30am-12.30pm at Junior School Oval

Yrs 7-9: Saturday 13 June: 12.30-1.30pm at Junior School Oval

A reminder that all Hockey training sessions are compulsory as a part of registering for a Winter Representative sport. Failure to attend compulsory sessions will result in disciplinary action and will affect eligibility for pockets and awards. Absenteeism for injury or illness must be emailed to Ms Seebohm prior to the training session. All Hockey players are required to have shin pads, a mouth guard, a hockey stick and a drink bottle (as bubblers are not available for use at this time).

Netball

It has been great to see so many excited netballers back on the courts over the past few weeks. Students will continue to train once during the week (either Tuesday or Thursday) followed by one training on a Saturday. This schedule will be in place for the remainder of Term 2 with the plan to resume the original training schedule from the start of Term 3. All players are asked to look at Redlands Pulse, Note Day or email communication from Ms Howard for the most up to date information regarding the current training schedule.

Please see below for the training schedule for this coming Saturday 13 June. Please note there are some time/venue changes for some teams from the previous Saturday training. Due to shorter sessions (60 minutes in length), we ask that all players arrive five minutes prior to their start time, ready to train in the appropriate gear so that they can maximise their hour training session.

Junior Sport

I hope you all had an enjoyable weekend. Wednesday saw all 18 classes complete their final rotation in the build-up to return to sport in a variety of skill-based activities. For the remaining two Wednesdays (Wednesday 17 June and Saturday 24 June) in the term all students will now enter a return to sport specific skill-based sessions in class time with all students remaining on site. Those students who are not doing a Representative sport (Football, AFL, Rugby, Hockey, Netball) in Term 3 will also be involved in these sessions. Normal sports uniform is fine for these sessions.

Students in PE classes have this week been continuing their program in Shot Put, High Jump and Discus. We have had some students across the grades who have picked up the skills associated with these disciplines very quickly. As well as being part of their PDHPE units of work, this will also give our students some confidence in trialing for these events early next term.

Just a reminder that registration is required to attend the optional on-campus training opportunities for Redlands Junior School students this weekend (Saturday 13 June again on Saturday 20 June). Online registration closes Friday 12 June via the Google Doc.

Those students who have not elected to play a Representative sport this season will participate in their return to sport sessions on Wednesday 17 and 24 June during school hours. These sessions are in addition to any other specialist lesson including PE lessons that they may have scheduled on Wednesday.

If you would like your child to participate in the Saturday Representative sport sessions, please refer to the email that was sent to all Junior School families on 1 June and again on 9 June. The attached note that accompanies this email has details and how to register. You have the option of selecting attendance for one of the Saturdays or both if you prefer.

Athletics Field Events Trials Term 3

With our School Athletics Carnival scheduled to take place in Term 3 on Wednesday 5 August, we are using a different format for field events, which all students are currently practising in their class PE lessons. If you have a child who would like to trial for field events for the Carnival itself, they will need to register via our Athletics page on Redlands Pulse.

Nomination Process:

  1. If you wish to enter any of these field events, you are invited to complete an entry form (via Google form). Submissions only accepted via the link.
  2. Closing date for all field nominations is Tuesday 30 June
  3. No late submissions accepted
  4. Some trials will be during school hours and some before school. Please see details below to make sure you can attend before you nominate online.
  5. House points will be allocated for all those students who attend the trials
  6. The top 8-10 students in each age group for each event will progress through to the finals, which will then held during our School Athletics Carnival on Wednesday 5 August.

Please complete the following form if you wish to trial for one or all of these field events.

Field Events Trial Nomination Form

As has been the case previously, students can enter as many track events as they wish to on the day. Of course, we are also aware that the guidelines and restrictions of the time may preclude this event taking place on this date.

Redlands Pulse

As it has been some time that you may have had the need to visit the Junior School Sport page on Redlands Pulse, it may be worth a visit in the coming weeks. It continues to be the ‘source of truth’ for all information relating to Junior School Sport.

As advertised last week there are a number of documents or information booklets that have been uploaded that will assist you over the course of the year relating to all things sport. These can be found here.

I am asking that if parents have an enquiry relating to sport that your first port of call will be the Junior School Sport section of Redlands Pulse.

Term 3 Sport

With a return to Community Sport date in place for 1 July, IPSHA has informed schools that they have a high degree of confidence that IPSHA Saturday Sport will be able to resume from Week 1 in Term 3. For Redlands Junior School Sport, the sporting calendar will be updated over the weekend to reflect the possible recommencement of before and after school training, the extra subject program and Saturday matches.

Term 3 will hopefully also see the return to our normal Wednesday afternoon Sports program where students engage in various sports which they registered for last term.

NSW Interschools Announcement

Following the confirmation that the current Covid-19 school restrictions covering Term 3 (July specific) Interschools activities are highly likely to continue, Interschool Snowsports confirms cancellation of the 2020 SUBARU ACT/Southern NSW Interschools Championships, scheduled to be held in late July at Perisher. This decision aligns with the cancellation of all other Regional and State Interschool Snowsports Championships at both the Perisher and Thredbo Resorts in 2020.

Interschool snowsports will now look to develop participation time-trial experiences with Perisher during late July and August for individual schools. Details of those opportunities will be forth coming during late June and early July.

Interschools snowsports is currently in discussions with Perisher about the September Suburu Interschools event with a positive development announcement scheduled for this week. More details can be found on Redlands Pulse

Further information on how and if Redlands will compete in this event is yet to be confirmed. Once we know more information from the resorts and Interschools we will begin planning. This revised event will be in conjunction with the Amelia McGuiness event on 9 September. Details are expected soon about Perisher ticketing (Epic Pass) and day ticket prices.

Unfortunately Redlands Training Weekends to Thredbo have been cancelled for this season. Any payments made will be refunded directly asap when your bank account details are supplied to me. Thanks for your understanding and let’s hope we all get some quality time on snow to prepare for September and a brighter 2021.

On-Campus Learning – Weeks 7 and 8

Private Music Tuition and Music Ensembles Program

Throughout Weeks 7 and 8, students will continue with the current arrangements for Private Music tuition classes (P-12). Instrumental Music Ensembles will similarly, continue in the Secondary School, facilitated through a range of smaller group settings and sectional rehearsals for Guitar Ensembles, Strings Ensembles, Concert Bands and Jazz Bands. It is important to note, that all Choral and Group singing experiences are currently under review and these sessions will continue to be delivered and resourced through our online platforms, where students will engage independently with provided resources and instruction materials. The Piano Ensemble and Chamber Music program will also continue to be delivered through online platforms.

Hygiene in the Music Setting

As part of our return to group settings, this has been a well-considered aspect of our planning and students involved in group instruction will follow the guidelines through the spreading out of rehearsals, utilising larger areas and outdoor learning spaces to promote distancing, where possible. Regular cleaning and disinfecting of musical equipment and resources will be undertaken daily.

Extra Subjects Music (Individual Tuition and Groups)

For the delivery of Private Music instruction, individual lessons will continue with the original 4 week Rotational Schedules issued in Term 1. For Week 7 lessons will follow Rotation 2B.
